For what it’s worth, I always got the impression Super Megatron’s upgraded tank form (Ultra Megatron) would be a fairly easy retool of Combiner Wars Megatron.

I’m not saying it’s a definite, but I ‘could’ see Takara releasing Ultra Megatron at some point in the next 12-18 months. He’d scale pretty evenly with Star Convoy then, whereas the inner Prime would go great with Super Megatron.

 

We have the LG13 version of Megatron. Tank mode is great. Bot mode is awful and should never be used again in a new toy.

This Galvatron mold is a lot larger than the inner POTP robots, doesn't really go "great" with them.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if pre-orders go up shortly after this guy's reveal.

I'm hoping one of the online sites accidentally jump the gun. 

 

Looking at it now I can see how Ultra Megatron can use the CW Leader Megatron mold as the base like with how the rail gun forms on his arm for example. Granted it'd have to be an extremely done retool but from what Takara has shown us from Super Megatron it's possible to make an entirely different looking character from an existing mold base. So like you said while it's not definite it's still possible for that to happen.

 

Yeah, the TR Galvatron mould is not the best right now. Hell, I would say that it wasn't the best even at the time it was released. I wish Super Megatron had a better representation.

At this point I just hope that a Third Party makes an upgrade to turn him into Ultra Megatron to scale better with the new Star Convoy.

 

I wouldn't mind the Headmaster (maybe Gavatron-colored?), but not the masky flippy-up thing that TR Galvatron had...

Either way, I am definitely pre-ordering this on day one!

I think the more important thing is that Super Megatron looks like he has thick dreadlocks, which requires that he sound like Hermes Conrad when he inevitably shows up in the Netflix series.

 

At the very least, if anything at all, that flip-up mask gimmick has gotta go.

I just tried on mine (since it just came in today) and while the prime master fits in the port on the hand, it is super loose and just falls back out. I think Takara actually made the hand port just a tad larger to not stress the plastic when you put the combiner peg in it.
