Hasbro Generations Selects are Smokescreen, G2 Megatron, Redwing, etc

TakaraTomy's Generations Selects are Star Convoy and Seacons.

 

The color on this is horrible.  

 

I don't remember seeing this blaster for Big Convoy. Is it a custom?

On topic, the Seacons look great and are a definite purchase depending on price.

 

Overall this is a cool set but I don't get the love I'm reading from people about "Tentakil". In my BBTS G1 set he was the weakest link and sadly looking at this updated version there's no real difference. The alt-mode is just a mean face with feet and the "tentacles" don't even move. If this isn't sold a set then he'll likely be the only one I pass on, since in no way do I think he's worth $35.00. Plus I'll still have 4 limbs regardless.

Yeah, this'll likely be something I get the beginning of next year since everything else pending for the new year tends to drag its feet at retail anyway.

 

Either that or it's an reissue with new accessories.



Oh, so it's the Matrix Buster.

 

The Seacons look terrific. I mean... I don't think you could really ask for a better update than that. They clearly look like themselves, retain all team members, and retain the same gimmicks as the originals. Sure, they have the same pros and cons as any CW figure, but overall they seem like a pretty perfect modern incarnation of the team.

 

For me it was the hoards of marauding Tentakils in Masterforce that made me really appreciate the character.

So it's the love for the character more than it is for the toy. Gotcha!  

Another good thing is that this might be the first CW type set that doesn't require me buying a 3P set of PE hands and feet for combiner mold.

 

More excited for this than Unicron...because it's in my budget, hehe. Looking forward to getting some Seacons!

Yes, except they didn’t have much in the way of characterization, just maurading hoards that screeched. But that’s why I hope these are individual so I can buy a hoard.

Loving those beast modes!!! It'd be ok if they couldn't combine but am glad they can. The sword is great but makes me sad that Predaking and some of the other combiners were "incomplete".

Those Seacons are ... Okay.

From the look of 'em I give them a solid middle-of-the-road as Combiner Wars-style molds go. Ain't no Liokaiser, but thankfully it ain't no Menasor either.

 

That's clever. They used the combiner port AS the handle.

 

Y'know what, i'll definitely get the deacons. I actually sold all my CW figures a few months back, I like to play with my figures and as "transformers" they're pretty dull.

But he'll, these look great, and I'll happily have then stood alone on a shelf
