Got the final two in at TCP. Thinking I'll take a break from TF's for a bit after this set is combined and on my SGMF shelf.

Anyone have a comparison pic between G1 and the new Selects Piranacon?

Ordered. About three weeks until it ships.
Price+Shipping to Australia is a little steep, but I bought Perfect Effect Hand & Foot upgrades for most of my other CW/UW figures, and I've been calling for this from day 1, so I'm happy to put my money where my mouth is.
I'm sure PE and/or TDW will eventually come out with something, but TBH I'm not sure there's much else you could do to improve the existing hands and feet.
This set is a great solution to the problem of the lack of Piranacon's signature gauntlet blades, without sacrificing the gun-mode limb connection on each hand. And if you only want him to wield the trident and combined gun (leaving the 5th limb out), you can simply attach both blades.
A few people on here have mentioned a desire for thigh thickeners; I'm less fussed about that.
On the other hand, I do still have PE's chest upgrade for my Supes, and if PE sticks to form, they'll probably do a hand-and-feet upgrade set, and a torso upgrade set. I've also said from the start that the Seacon super-robot could use a hip-plate of some kind, a la Crazydevy's G1 upgrade below: images (1).jpeg Which is fairly toon-accurate:

Would still be interested in seeing what PE and TDW come up with in that regard.

Which plastic type did you go with? I haven't ordered off Shapeways before but like you this seems worth it.

When did PE last do a kit? Because yeah, Piranacon is one of the few teams I will absolutely buy a kit for if it doesn't involve dismantling the figure.

PE did a half-assed kit for Abominus. Their Volcanicus kit was their last real upgrade one. TDW did a ... controversial Abominus kit that has only marginal re-use value for King Poseidon (maybe thigh thickeners, hands, feet).

Ha, and that's if you go with the crappy option. The good material is $25.

And “good” isn’t really good when it comes to Shapeways materials... regardless what it says, they’re all somewhat grainy.

That’s not entirely fair; you’ll get some grainy surfaces no matter who does 3d printing. Everyone knows you’ll need to do some sanding to ensure a smooth finish.

Better to say it's a result of the process, not the materials.

Not all of them are grainy, some are smooth with faint print lines. A resin printer is even better.

Went ahead and paid for the 3rd set threw TFSource so I don’t even have to play the wait game with pulse.

I have bought many shapeways things over the years and it’s always terrible. The only pieces I was happy with were ones that didn’t have to be seen (CW joints). Everything else I get the highest quality and it’s always rough and in the case of some heads I got, sticky and had a weird odor. I realize it’s the process, but when they start making things like Renderform, I’m done with them. It’s not their fault I know, but it’s just not for me.

Right? This is the kind of stuff you put on the packaging or advertise the entire line with, hell maybe even better than that. It’s really, really good.
