Blue Omega Supreme has arrived. Now just missing the purple one.


This is not a full review as the set is a redeco of Siege Omega Supreme. Guardian Robot is a blue and white themed redeco based on its appearance in the G1 "War Dawn" episode, which also featured Orion Pax and Alpha Trion. This figure is factionless. The Siege Omega Supreme figure originally retailed at $160, while this figure retails at $200, the current Titan pricing.

For accessories, it comes with translucent orange versions of the Omega Supreme blast effects (7 total). This is similar to the Sky Lynx blast effects but slightly more saturated. Guardian Robot comes with Lunar-Tread, who is a redeco of the Countdown Micromaster.

Despite appearances, this figure actually appears to have more paint than Omega Supreme. Its base plastics and paint apps are done in a way to have a more streamlined look based on the cartoon. There's less 'interruptions' in how the colors flow: the ramp parts all have the same color, for instance. Some of the white and blue are painted. There's 2 different shades each of the base blue and gray plastics. There's gunmetal and white base plastics. The right hand claws are now a lighter opaque gray plastic instead of being transparent. There's no battle damage deco this time around, which is good.

What's really different is how the clear plastic was handled. The clear plastic is colorless. The chest window has the molded plastic behind it painted in a nice metallic blue to match the cartoon deco. The face shield is thankfully clear this time around. The lightpiping eye panel is also clear but painted clear blue at the ends. Siege Omega Supreme should have had a similar treatment with his clear plastic instead of turning everything yellow.

Have not noticed any mold degradation issues. The joints are overall similar to Omega Supreme, for better or worse.

Bot Mode:

The deco looks great. The handling of the clear plastic deco is so much better this time around. Yes, Guardian Robot is factionless.


The lightpiping creates a light blue effect, which is not often seen...and should be done more often. The eye piece is actually clear plastic but painted over in clear blue.

There's also an alternate configuration when using the peg to plug into Omega Supreme's ports. It still doesn't look good and looks more like an interrupted transformation.


Overall:
Guardian Robot is a great redeco of Siege Omega Supreme and has a much better handling of the clear pieces deco. Some will complain about the $40 higher price compared to Omega Supreme, but $200 is the current Titan pricing (and as part of the general price hike).

Added a few more pics and a blast effects comparison. The effects are very slightly more translucent compared to Sky Lynx version.

 

Always hated the stupidly giant rocket and tiny little track of the original when there were multiple better 3rd party options for him, but I might get this one to represent his stupid cousin.

 

Is his hand made of clear plastic, like the original, but painted grey? Or is it grey plastic?

 

Molded in gray plastic. The claws are a Starscream gray.

 

Buzzworthy Bumblebee Legacy Evolution Jazz matches up well with Guardian Robot in terms of deco.

I showed this in my bloated modding thread for the LED mod, but it is possible to non-destructively remove the head if one wants to recreate the headless version.



The 2 head screws are different, so don't get them mixed up. The back is able to open up enough to get the head off without breaking the glued areas in the front.

 

My son got all A’s in school this quarter so I bought him this.

 

My Fans Toys version with my son’s Hasbro version of the Guardian Robot.

 

He looks very nice. I will pick him up when he inevitably gets clearanced. Hopefully any yellowing will appear in that time so I can make an informed purchase.

 

Loving these guys. The colors really pop! Looks even better in person than in photos. I had doubts about getting these but they vanished once I opened the boxes and saw the figures.
