Considering this is effectively a replacement for the tfss I don’t really see how it can be insulting

Hasbro can ship them in chinese take-out boxes, and I wouldn't care, but that's just me. :)

Personally, I don't really care about the boxes, only what's inside.

I was considering getting red Swoop, but he's way too small for my taste (I'm kind of hoping Black Mamba does one). I've decided to get two Ricochet's, with the second one to be used as a limb for UW Grand Scourge, (once I figure out how to get rid of the flames).

Speaking of Generations Selects, I'd like them to do a Slammer from Siege Brunt to go with Titan Metroplex and Siege Six Gun. Of course, I wouldn't be averse to a Deluxe Scamper, either.

Man I can’t give much of a damn about the dinobots but I love the red on this guy. So much better than the blue.

I would love a monthly subscription service. No hunting, no effort, an interesting variety of unique product. Just set it and forget it. The added benefit for Hasbro is that it gets a bunch of consumer information for direct marketing. Question is over the price point. Ideally it’d be monthly, in which case you’re probably looking at $25-30 a month, but I doubt they have the ability to sustain that volume initially.

I'm not wasting any money on these tiny Dinobots. The Dinobots should have been the Titan class instead of Predaking. Hasbro screwed up so I didn't buy any of them.

Not exactly a good choice for an exclusive, considering it is still one of the most ABUNDANT figures still on store shelves. along with Jazz.

Let me know when they do a G2 Colored Volcanicus box set!

Except the reaction to both ricochet and red swoop seems to be largely positive, so they obviously chose well. Also it’s not like these will be able to bought off store shelves, so jazz and blue swoop still being available is a non point.

$25 per figure is about the going rate for the exclusive Deluxes. So not unreasonable to go $30 a month and include a Voyager or Leader in the mix.

I think a model closer to TFSS would make more sense. Announce the full price and figures up front, then people can subscribe and pay in installments. That way the price can fluctuate based on what's offered from year to year.

Hasbro could offer the figures to non-subscribers, perhaps with a sligjt madkup. And those who subscribed at the beginning of the year get a free "secret" bonus figure while those who don't have to hope there's enough stock left over to buy it later.

Those are good consumer-facing accommodations (and perhaps good reasons why this model won’t work here), but they undermine the subscription business model. The whole thing is predicated on the projected cashflow and subscription growth. If there’s an element of contingency or “pick and choose,” it falls apart. Basically, they would need people to commit more or less blind, with a credit card autorenew (and perhaps a minimum commitment).

Under that model, the $25/month works because there’s no middleman. I’d go in at a higher price as well, but I wouldn’t if there is going to be another way to buy.

With that said, this is a fanbase with fairly diverse tastes and preferences, so perhaps there’s no way to make it work because selecting only those toys you like is so baked in to the culture.
