Hasbro has been saying for a while that they're wanting to be rid of all plastic inserts by 2022, I think. So this is the logical step for the Generations Selects packaging.

Just realized how big that box is. Could have easily fitted 2 Sideswipe clones in it. So much for saving the environment Hasbro? :lol

That sounds kind of disappointing to be honest. I guess it might be more eco friendly but for someone like me who likes preserving the packaging having it be pure card board is a bit of a downer. Then again if they're finally ditching those awful plastic bindings that's an upside.

Not to be aggressive in any way, but from a moral perspective this is absolutely the best thing Hasbro could be doing.

     :banghead:

I desPISE those plastic clamshells! I almost broke my Sandstrom's null ray just removing it! Don't get me started with the one used on ER Thrust! The way the VTOLs are jammed in:mad  you'd think Hb doesn't want you to play with them (great that the back struts didn't break)! Don't get me started with the Prowl/IH set (the Prowl sarcophagus....... the stress on his left arm). And Netfflix Soundwave........

This part I am :rock   for Hb!

Everyone concerned about police lights and the box and I\'m here wondering why he\'s based on the Cybertronian mold and NOT THE EARTHRISE MOLD.  C\'mon Hasbro.

The return of paper ties make me so happy. I've hated the plastic ones they've used for the past few years.

From my angle, there's two logical reasons. 1: Deep Cover was a Sideswipe repaint. 2:The vast majority of Siege molds (Sideswipe included) were as alien and unearthly as McDonalds is to the American public. So an earth mode for a bot who looks like a earth car from 2030 is redundant.

To clarify if it's for eco friendliness then yes it's absolutely a good thing. If Hasbro could reduce the box size it'd come across even better. But just for me personally I like preserving the packaging as much as possible which going all cardboard is harder to do with.
I hope I didn't sound completely dreary about it before because it CAN work and Hasbro did it with Tidal Wave during the UT days.

So I've heard. While I get that their heart (or probably their mouth if I'm being downer on this) is in the right place, I'm not really sure it'll do as much good as they think it will.
Plus. if this is how they're doing that, it can very easily come off looking like an excuse to spend even less money on packaging. Possibly returning these savings back onto us the consumers in the form of another price increase. (But that last part may be distrust of big companies from seeing so much of their actions.)

Exactly. Except some supposed leaker's word, there is absolutely nothing to indicate the Earth SS mold is a thing.

Seconded. That thread needs to be locked. I called bullshit from day one because the 'leaker' is a new member with no credibility.

Have you seen the Kingdom boxes with the new packaging philosophy?

The smaller plastic window has lead to badass art of both alt and bot mode. It's awesome.

The Selects packaging has *always* been bland. Always. Replacing the plastic tray with a cardboard insert doesn't change that for better or worse.

I really hope there\'s an Earthrise/Studio 84 Sideswipe and Red Alert.  I really want them with nice, clean paint jobs.

Lol that was nonissue after their throwaway got merged second day of the thread. A handful of the things they talked about have already been confirmed either in pics or listings, they're the one that just shared the second hand pics of Deepcover in this thread.
