Well, to be fair, a lot of people familiar with Black Zarak "hoped" for this once Scorponok was announced and doubled down with the release of Black Roritchi. I was one of them. I'm glad we were right.

Now, if only our hopes for Metrotitan are validated since HasTak has shown TWICE that they'll do remold/redeco Titans: Scorponok/Black Zarak, Ft Max, Grand Max

 

I am really happy for a toy I have no interest in, no thought of buying. I'm just glad that so many folks on the boards are finally getting this. Congrats!

You said "they" so I assumed you were speaking of the leakers generally.

 

I see people talking about how this wasn't revealed prior and all of a sudden he shows up on Zavvi and it's April Fools, yada, yada, yada... (I know it's since been confirmed as legit, and that the release is out of nowhere.) Here's the thing... The panel is a little over a week away (where it would've been unveiled anyway) and most likely, Zavvi released the info/broke the news before Hasbro could do it officially and they scrambled in a mad dash to get the slots open.

It's not the first time Hasbro has had their news scoop'd by someone else, including a retailer/partner, in the past. I'm surprised they're making a repaint of a Titan when the last one didn't do so well (from what we've heard of Grand Max), I'm surprised by the news as much as you guys are, but once I saw it was Zavvi, I knew it was legit. Acting all surprised that it came seemingly out of left field isn't necessary anymore. Has/Tak has caught us off guard by surprising releases before. I'm not sure where all the negativity and gloom and doom came from at the beginning of all of this, but man, you guys are downers. You're like living alcohol turning everyone around you into drunks. I've never seen a more depressing reaction to release news. The 180 was amazing, though. I love eating crow posts, delicious.

I know April Fools is this week, I get it, I do, but Zavvi wouldn't go this far for a prank. It's a bad business practice and seeing how horribly they mishandle their shipments of figures, they need all the positive news they can get right now. Faking a coveted figure release would basically shut the door for almost all collectors when it comes to business with them.

(Seriously, look up their Star Wars figure shipments in FB groups. You think Walmart and Amazon don't know how to pack a figure? HAH! Zavvi has them beat. They didn't just fold cards of carded figures, they ROLLED THEM UP in some cases. I am not joking.)

I was cautiously optimistic on the Zavvi info but ready to be disappointed too. I'm glad I wasn't disappointed because this is great. And my LG EX Grand Maximus probably just increased $500 in value.

 

Why would they do that? They already did superb Takara Legends versions of all those.
This release is clearly a cost saving measure where they're gambling that the cost to produce a light remold/repaint will sell more units that it costs to produce. Especially considering the selling success of WFC Scorponok.
