I have heard Motormaster was "lacking" generally speaking, as a figure and detracted from the overall set. Hotspot is a remold/slight retool of Inferno, yes?
Yeah, its fine as a figure, but doesn't work as a torso in the slightest. Other way around, Inferno was a remold of Hotspot.
I'm guessing they'd use the CW version as a base. Replace US Drillbison with the UW Nosecone mold, and replace the pegs with PotP ones featuring the chest ports. I'm wondering if they also couldn't make Dreadwind and Blackwing work in place of the two US jet arms.
One could say the same for Volcanicus. Slag being the only one that is majorly different in theory. I feel all of them are significantly different once revealed.

Those are the main things. I'm sure everything will be tweaked. Cutthroat will likely have a yellow face, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a slightly different shade than his helmet and base yellow plastic.
I don't mean announce it at the same time, that was the specific paradigm they got away from during POTP for that exact reason. I meant I wish I had some clue Selects was going to be a thing. We're still in the dark because they can pick and choose years down the road, but now we know it's exists. Going forward, finding out something's getting the Selects treatment? Awesome. But DURING POTP we had no idea and just had to accept the old ways were dead.
I intentionally passed on CW Liokaiser because that's not Liokaiser, it's a cash grab. It missed the mark on so many levels: - There are no Breastforce animal partners that form chest plates, the key gimmick of the team - Deathsaurus should not be a repaint of Sky Lynx, he has a very cool robot mode with 2 animal servants - This set omits Leozak, the leader of the team - This set also omits Jallguar - There are 6 members of the team, and Deathsaurus ain't one of 'em
True, but I'm big into customs so I would have just made myself a Jallguar and Leozak and the other bots look great. Also I'll be real, its a fun gimmick for Deathsaurus, but I can take or leave the Breast animals for Liokiser.
I know this one is Abominus, but in the future, I'd like to see Takara do something wild and unexpected, like they did with Grand Galvatron.
Abominus definitely has some new parts or retooling, as the shape of his chest is different towards the top. The Decepticon symbols wouldn't fit there either.
I'm good with that. I'm happy not hideous stickers. Why did Hasbro even do that during later half TR through POTP?
What they got wrong about PCC was not finding a way to sell both drones and smaller bots who could form limbs. Good idea, poorly realized. $300 to swap the sides the limbs attach on to be animation accurate. Given price changes and how they've sized figures since PotP, I'd wager stickers were a more affordable option to paint apps.
