What gives you that idea?
One of my fave G1 bots! FINALLY a Sandstorm worth owning!
Now THAT would be glorious.
Well, the box indicates Metroplex is scaled to legends figures and the legends prime is on his shoulder (while Bumblebee is the deluxe, I get that). It also indicates on the box he comes with Scamper, and would be a smart character to have on the box art. I mean, I'd like a black Scamper, but who knows. Also makes me wonder if the sandstorm we are seeing on the box is really a remolded voyager and not a future legends figure (Hoist is also a Legends and will probably get put out again in a gift set or something)
I'm guessing the back of the box will show his city mode playing host to a slew of legends autobots.
It's a nice theory, but I think it's wrong. Going by Springer - the back half of the grey section in car mode (including rear wheels) becomes the rear of the tail assembly, while the front half plus headlights becomes the side sections of the copter.
Now just going by the art for Sandstorm, the body looks the same other than the v-tol wings, which means the way the tail assembly is done will be the same. And it looks like the side bits are the same too. Plus, going by the robot mode, there does not appear to be any way for the front wheels to detach from the shoulders or headlights.
So yeah, as it stands I'm going with the v-tol wings being newly added parts that don't use any of the current mold. It means he'll probably have wings in robot mode, and it's possible for dune buggy they swing down to cover one set of wheels to give him the over-sized wheel look.
The back of the box is the "actual size" photo of Metroplex. We saw both sides of the box at the show.
That's not Legends Prime on his shoulder, that's Orion Pax. And while Trailcutter and presumedly Hoist look-alikes feature on his boxart, and they do have Legends figures, the art uses the new Generations figure designs. Everything shown on that box is a Generations 2013 figure, nothing previously released.
That's not Legends Prime. That's Deluxe Orion Pax. There are no Legends toys in that box image.
^ you guys are totally right. I had to look at an up close pic on Seibertron to see it clearly. Also, the blue figure is totally skids. It has Trailcutters shield/gun.
Well there goes my theory. Ha ha ha.
Motherfuck yes. The autobot triple-changers get no love, love seein' it change. Blitzwing, Octane and Astrotrain vs Springer right now.
Hell. Even better. Look at all the Wreckers available now in CHUG form with Springer and the wrecker combiner comin' out, Perceptor, Kup. Guzzle if anybody ever found him. The Furman-verse is rockin' in toy form.
No!! Triple changers are too awesome to double up on and combine molds. Each one should be given a completely unique try. Plus, Sandstorm doesn't have "Cybertronian modes", so I've always thought of him as the superior figure.
yeah, I also think it's Skids
Sandstorm looks awesome, definitely looking forward to this!
I was wondering if we were going to find out who that VTOL was. Glad to here it's Sandstorm. All we need now is Broadside, and the Autobot and Decepticon Triple Changers will be complete.
C'mon Hasbro...don't lose your momentum now.........
Watch them do Platinum edition Broadside from Armada Tidal Wave.
Shhhh!!! Don't you dare think this!
Hopefully the "A-Team" has Broadside's plans in motion, before the derpy "B-Team" gets a hold of it.
If Sandstorm actually does happen, along with that Hoist & Skids... HasTak are actually listening to us? Get outta here...
I am quite happy with my FP Warbot Assaulter. Thank you.
ho sandstorm, you were so missing to my collection as an update
i would have prefered him to keep the exact same "main rotor" type than the springer version but well, that will do
Well I'll be owning this mold twice now!
I guess that if there's nothing mutually exclusive about the transformation of the figures themselves, obviously these two Autobot Triple Changers could access two flight modes each. If someone had two Voyager Springers or one in armoured car mode, they could - if the above were true - fanmode Sandstorm into a helicopter.
Then again, Hasbro or Takara might come to their own decisions and package Voyager Sandstorm with the rotor accessory just to give him a sword.
