I've had parts for Overlord sitting around for probably close to two years. I abandoned him pretty early into the process because I was never satisfied with his head. I tried sculpting, finding a replacement and would hit Shapeways every so often, but couldn't find anything that worked. Then Javaco came along with the cure for my woes with his Overlord conversion kit and was even kind enough to offer it up to me without the big gun. I'm going to take some better shots with some studio lighting after I do some final paint touch ups, but here he is. He's got a 2-part alt mode. The turret becomes a BFG (as seen in the WIP shot when his chest was white like the toy instead of blue like the comics. Most of the electronics still work, which is an added bonus. I'm waiting on some new Decepticon badges from Reprolabels. After that, he'll be ready to menace the hell out of my shelves. I think he turned out to be well worth the wait.
Hasbro!!! Pay this gentleman for his idea, and thank him for improving your crap, then start production immediately!!!
This is great. If 2015 produces as it should i will ape this. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Thanks for the kind words, all. My Decepticon symbols just came in today, so I'll get some better shots done soon.
the overlord lover in me says "yeeeees"!! i like how the kit fits this bot combo so well and the paint is so clean and crisp.
How did you separate Silverbolt's plane from his body? I have one sitting here with every visible screw on the underside of the plane removed, and I can't figure out what I'm missing.
It's pretty easy. You just have to disassemble the nose of the plane. once that's apart, it comes off that hinge no problem. You'll have to sand down the pegs on the hinge and cut the wires to the electronics in the nose once it's done, but it's a really simple operation to get the piece off. It'll peg back on no problem.
this is the best chug interpretation of overlord that i ever seen. i hope to have a overlord this cool one day
Very impressive - puts the cyberverse Overlord I'm working on to shame. Always nice to see custom Overlords after IDW made the character awesome
