But yeah, he's a tiny Transformer (even smaller than guys like Rewind and Eject), who wears a regular-sized Transformer body to prevent people from finding out - and that body then wears the Magnus armor.

 

First new figure in a long ass time that I actually want to buy. Very nice indeed.

 

Now that I've read the wiki and know what a stupid character Minimus Ambus is, I think maybe I'll hold out for the Takara version.

I'm getting a little tired of this IDW continuity being called G1. G1 Magnus doesn't have a tiny robot inside a tiny robot inside of him. Cyclonus isn't a good guy. Bumblebee doesn't walk with a cane. This is pretty basic stuff here.

Magnus did have a tiny robot inside of him. It just used to be a white Optimus Prime. Minimus just takes that idea, and turns it into something interesting. And Bee didn't always have a cane, nor was Cyclonus always a good guy. They had something called character development.

Here's hoping his badge is printed 100% straight.

 

Minimus Ambus isn't a stupid character at all, but Ultra Magnus has always been someone wearing armour, how quick we are to forget. Cyclonus is not a particularily good guy, just a neutral, and Bumblebee walked with a cane for a pretty brief period. You're obviously not reading up very well.

What I'm sick of of is posts like this. I grew up with Marvel comics, but did I freak out at Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's portrayals in AOU? I mean, isn't them being mutants and Magneto's children "basic stuff"? No I did not... Because characters change over time and are given different interpretations.

Complaining about the cane seems like a partocularily weird thing. Should no comicbook character ever suffer an injury with lasting effects? I guess they have to steer clear of Batgirl comics.

Yeah, UM is just a guy with a tiny robot in him rather than a guy with a tiny robot in him and another tiny robot in that one. That said, the original Diaclone version was a tiny guy (the Diaclone pilot) inside of a smaller guy (the Optimus cab) inside of the larger one (the Powered Convoy armor.) If anything this means that IDW Magnus is the closest to the Diaclone version in concept.

And Shockwave is blindly loyal...or is he scheming to usurp Megatron? The conehead seekers don't actually have coneheads...or do they? The Dinobots are dumb cavemen..or are they intelligent? And do they have translucent bits and seats for smaller characters to ride on or not?

Let's face it...G1 never was just one thing. It was the toys, cartoon and comic - and all of them were contradicting each other on multiple occasions.

IDW's continuity has definitely evolved into a more 'Generations' universe lately, but it's clearly a G1-based continuity. I'm personally getting slightly annoyed with the double standards some people seem to operate with when it comes to what counts/doesn't count as proper G1. Sorry, it's a sort of stubbornness that you're rightfully allowed to have, but is in the end just annoying to others as it's not based on any facts.  

Does that mean you have to like Minimus Ambus? No, of course not.  
But it's a interesting and valid twist to a character that only makes Magnus more interesting to me, rather than take away from him.
The dude's gotten so much good characterization in the current comics, so it's a shame to see people having such a problem with him existing -even though apart from the original toy Transformers never did anything with the inner white Prime apart from churning out Prime repaints to recoup costs. There's literally one scene in a Dreamwave comic where the white Prime is even acknowledged.

But if you want to judge things on wiki summaries..go right ahead, I guess.  

 

Or you could just throw out or store minimus he isn't required for magnus to be in bot mode. I know I'm stuffing mine in a drawer and not thinking twice about it

I hope there is a MP version of Minimus made to go with MP Magnus.
