I'm a tiny bit surprised they didn't follow the Whirl & Roadbuster trend and include a sticker sheet with Jetfire. Including Macross wing logo stickers would probably be taking it too far though. :)

Hasbro is becoming rather parsimonious lately. Cheap plastic, hollow arms, and no wrist swivels? May as well have given him curling arms. I fear Leader Megatron will suffer a similar fate.

I can forgive the hollow areas. The forearms are a little weird, but the hollow thighs are pretty common.

I'm totally on board for this guy because he's got a great look and style, and Classics Jetfire is a terrible toy that needs replacing ASAP.

Gosh, he's absolutely covered in hollowed out areas. Still a must have but could be even so much better..

Good to see that those leg guns are removable, always thought they looked pretty derpy, now if only the chrome parts were solid red plactic I would buy this in a heart beat.

God, this is a toy that so wants to be excellent, but those hollow legs and arms plus all the unpainted white plastic are just killing it. :(

I have one on order for $32 shipped, and I'm starting to wonder if even that price is too much.

*sighs* I'm at a crossroads, here.

    So, here's my dilemma:

I've never been a big fan of Skyfire, he just didn't cut it for me, but I loved the G1 toy. (I still do, honestly.) At first glance, this looks like a fantastic figure and knowing there's more to the transformation than just a bunch of robot kibble hanging off of the bottom is really nice.

However, the chrome (as it always has) kills it for me. I can't stand the look of it and a couple of the pictures already show a chip on the one gun. (That sucks!) But, his robot mode (without all of the junk on it) looks fantastic. Looks a lot like the animation model. (Major selling point to me. Why? I don't know, it just wins me over.)

The Voyager didn't do it for me, not really, so the IDW look means nothing to me and all of those parts will probably get tossed in a bin. The vehicle mode looks FANTASTIC. So, the robot mode (G1 version) kinda sells me on it, and the jet mode definitely does, but the IDW junk does not and it's so dang gaudy looking, but that backpack is kind of a necessity to sell the look, if nothing else.

What really kills it for me? Those gaps. Those unsightly, "I'M RIGHT UP IN YO FACE, BIATCH!" gaps. I knew the thighs had them but the forearms? WTF? WHY?! I think it's great that the forearm guns try to cover it up, but even they fail, because you can see little gaps here and there around the edges. Looks downright awful without the guns. Ridiculously so. Why on Earth is he so damned hollowed out? Why?

I'm sure there's a way to fill all of that in and it can be overlooked, but out of the box as is, grr. One of it's saving graces is that it takes Kronos' ass out back and beats it, with one hand tied behind it's back. (And it can do that without needing it's screws tightened.) I'd much rather pay $45.00 for this flawed piece of work than pay $165.00 for a piece of shit. Both Kronos and Jetfire could've been so much more, and it looks like they both came close to the finish line and then just gave up and phoned it in.

I'll probably keep my preorder and buy this, I'm just disappointed.

...that cracked plastic just makes my skin crawl thinking about it. I hate it when a break like that happens. Regardless of how it got there, either by design flaw or human error (which we're all prone to), it's still unpleasant and I hate it.

He's very clearly not Ultra-Sized in the comparison photos.

He looks fantastic, really everything I could want in a Jetfire figure outside of the MP line. I'll definitely be pre-ordering him.

I like it. Hollow parts don't both me as Hasbro have proven that they know what works and what doesn't in terms of quantity of materials used.

Little bit of a shame that you can't do a similar shoulder cannon routine with the back but I am almost certain someone like Dr.Wu will create a new backpack for this guy.

I'm looking forward to getting this in 2 weeks.
