    Hey everyone!

Something that's been bugging me for quite some time: there's still no official Rung figure!
So finally, despite having only minor experience in customizing (I did some Warhammer back in the day..and I sucked), I will attempt to create one for my own collection.

As I've never done this before, please join me on this road that will surely end in disaster. I'll try to upload new bits whenever I have time and made progress (but please bear with me).

First of all: thank you to both johnbonhamatron and SteamShield.
The first for creating the perfect deluxe-scaled Rung head:
Smaller Rung Head (w. concerned eyebrows) by JohnBonhamatron on Shapeways
And the second one for the inpsiring Rung custom that I based mine on, plus the custom chest part:
Heavy/Scratch: - IDW MTMTE Rung Custom
Wrung Chest For Chromia by SteamShield on Shapeways

Seriously, thanks people! I suck even more at sculpting than painting, so to have these parts perfect and ready... it means a lot!

    Now, onto the project...

Like SteamShield, I picked Generations Chromia for this. I guess an PRID Arcee or BH Arcee could do as well, but the lower arms on this mold + the back kibble seems to fit slightly better for my tastes. Depends on what you can get your hands on relatively cheap too, I guess!

These are the two items I ordered. The head comes in either white & polished, or frosted ultra detail. I picked the latter because to me it seems it contains a bit more detail and doesn't look as wavy, but from what I understand the plastic is a bit more fragile. Will have to look out for that antenna, but since I don't intend to play with Rung - nor does he transform really, that shouldn't be a big problem for me.

After cutting up Chromia, these are the parts left that I'm using. I'm taking everything apart as far as I can, but not the pinned bits. Tried to hammer pins out once or twice before, I'm not good at it - but no big deal.

Cut up the chest and removed the back kibble, apart from the thrusters flap. I kind of like those. I did remove the flap that folds around the legs and hinders articulation, however.

I removed the wheel and cut off the the back of the heel for a more blocky foot.

Not sure if it's visible without reference, but I cut off the foot's toes. Chromia has quite pointy feet, Rung doesn't.

The Rung head really does look amazing. Oh also, free nailpolish! Whooh!!

Well that's just prime(d). Used a white primer from Citadel/Games Workshop to apply a basic coat, and I will be painting him with acrylic vermillion as I intend to get him close to the way Josh Burcham colored him in the comics (the one shade of orange, instead of the multiple shades as Josh Perez does).

    That's it for now!

Ha, I have both those parts from Jon and Streamshield that have been sitting in my "to do" queue for quite a while. Looks great so far! I'll be eagerly watching this project and will very likely use it for reference when I get around to doing my own.

Thank you guys! Here's a quick update as I'm currently on a surprise holiday.

I actually managed to complete Rung - I want to go back to do some minor touchups, plus add another layer of gloss finish. The varnish I used was supposed to be somewhere in between matte and gloss but clearly it isn't. And oh, he actually looks much less grainy and unrefined in real life. Not sure why that is. :D

I'm pretty happy with him, I finally get to put a Rung in my MTMTE cast. I'll post more pictures and process once I get back home!

    Thanks for looking!

Apologies for the late update. Here are some more pictures of the process. In the end I ended up having to redo a couple of bits, plus redo the finishing with a gloss varnish (I had originally used a satin varnish which resulted in the figure's colors becoming dull and 'snowy'. All fixed now, however!

That weird bump on his left leg? Turns out I wasn't paying attention and screwed the wrong screw back in. :'-) Take notice of where you put the screws and which! :lol

I feel it turned out pretty well for my first ever custom - I learned some do's and dont's...and he actually doesn't look as grainy and messy in real life as he does in pictures - probably due to the size? Not sure.

Either way, thanks for looking! :)  :)  :)
