Finally got my hands on one of these guys. I got it with the intention of making him look closer to his G1 self. I started by lopping off the heightened section of the cab to make it look more like the Mitsubishi Fuzo he's based on. Those parts were recycled into new feet that matched the rest of the color scheme. I removed the front bumper completely and cut the very front of it and affixed it to the cab so it doesn't jut as far as Inferno and Grapples. The new sirens are the tips of an Animated Seekers missiles. The arm panels are now attached directly to the back of the shoulders via an existing screw hole. I just drilled through the panel, countersunk it and added a longer screw. Trimmed the window so the smaller panel would fold without the arm obstructing it. I swapped the shoulders, the fists and reversed the elbow joints. The new chestpiece is just a G1 Hotspot chest cut to fit the panel that sits along the center of the truck. Added a G1 Hotspot ladder and here he is! May do some more little mods but this WILL be part of a complete combining Defensor
Dude, don't feel bad. I had to finally just use ebay. Luckily I found someone who wasn't asking like $60 or more for it.
Excellent work! Did you have to paint the base of g1 Hotspot's ladder to match the color of the new figure?
Wow man.. that looks REALLY good.. Like seriously really good. I love the new feet. My only complaint is the ladder feels a smidge too small.. But other than that, it looks great! *edit* But in the group shot, the ladder looks really good.. so now I'm torn.
Thanks for the help with this last night on facebook, I only did the arm swap for now, can't wait to see more of Blades!
...makes me wish I didn't pass on Hot Spot twice already... hahahaha... oi... Very nice. I always did think this mold would have a version where the truck's front would be intended as his back... I mean he actually even gains some poseability if his backside were the chest instead. Not to mention it looks pretty cool... >_> Well done spoon. The few tweaks are quite neat. (btw, 3mm clips on his feet, hehe.)
This mod inspired me to do it to mine, though I was much lazier. You can get this if you have a screwdriver and don't mind a few millimeters of trimming.
