After the TFW2005 Boombox contest, I was left in awe by many entries, particularly Ian2800's (go check it out if you missed it). Inspired, i have tried to improve my skills and this is the first step. While it doesn't come close to the level of awesomeness of that Boombox, it is the best I've managed to do in a while so I hope you like it.

For the design, I basically mixed G1 Blitzwing and threw in some details from Animated Blitzwing (such as the tread-legs and bucket helm). The color scheme is directly taken from the G1 version. This interpretation of Blitzwing isn't meant to go in any generation in particular, but I'd guess it's a cybertronian mode. The canopy/radar dome was inspired by the War for Cybertron seekers.

I think its cool. I get a movie or WFC type vibe from this, but still its cool.

 

Very cool design! I do agree with Ezilla, he looks like a WFC or Movie style character. Great work though.

Looks halfway between the movies and G1. I like it, but I get the feeling he should be bulkier, more of a bruiser, maybe. Still  

 

Definately looks like it could make a cool WFC Blitzwing, just add some purple glowy lines in there. But even ignoring that, the art is still terrific, as well as the design.   Not a big fan of the nosecone sticking out like that though, to be honest. I think it would look better if you took it out and had the canopy run down a bit further.

I'm totally digging this design! Really cool. Kinda feels like a WFC/G1 mix, but In my opinion we need more of that.

 

I would be all over a gen or HFTD version of animated blitzy. This looks really good as you've drawn it, and I'd buy it, but I might try to mod it fold the nose cone into the cockpit I think. That's the only part I'm not keen on.

i agree he's more movie the generations. Also I'd bulk him out a little he's looking too skinny for my taste and I'm not sold on the nose cone position.

There is a face on his crotch. And sorta on his chest. Inspired by animated's 3 faces?

 

I like it. Really nice digitaled paint job, too.

But yeah, if this ended up as a Generations Blitzwing, the old school fans would piss their pants with rage.
The nosecone in the midsection is a bit awkward, too.

Yeah, I could see this guy fitting in the new tv show perfectly.

I admit that the nosecone was a voluntary design risk, I knew it wouldn't be to everyone's liking, but I went ahead with it to try something different. Part of the inspiration came from ROTF Breakaway / Thrust. I see this Blitzwing as a cybertronian mode, so the plane mode has small wings and should be quite compact and stylized as the WFC seekers. I envisioned the tank mode to be kind of an "H-Tank" (think armada megs or Animated Shockwave). The cockpit is more like a radar dome like it is on the WFC jets.

I made him a bit thin, because of his three modes; I like animated Blitzwing a lot, but you need a bit of imagination to not be baffled by his bulky jet mode.

When I finished the overall design and before I went on with coloring, I noticed the "crotch face", but I hoped nobody else would,
