I think we wouldn't have God Magnus if it wasn't for the Haslab.
Hasbro is also needing money. They need successful Haslabs.
Deathsaurus would have been a commander upgrade partial of Grimlock.... so we kind of won with that one.

He might have been just a Leader for all we know, not even a commander.

We won HUGE with DS, that toy is so good. And we absolutely would not have gotten Ultra Magnus if it wasn't for this, only would have got Optimus.

I'd personally be fine with that, to be honest. And yes, we got a better Deathsaurus due to it being a HasLab, as I said.

It is a great toy, of one of my favourite characters. I love it. But we overpaid for it, also due to it being a HasLab. That tempers the 'win' - particularly when there's still corners cut with these 'made to order' toys that - in theory - should be setting their own budgets (why can't I put the shield on the shoulder I want to, Hasbro? Oh, because you can't not be cheap).

I think I'd find it more tolerable if it was actually more like 'crowdfunding', rather than simply being a limited window for ordering with a minimum amount required for production.

There's a successful HasLab for God Fire Convoy/Omega Prime, say. Everyone who backs it gets what they get.

There'll also be a retail release if the 'crowdfund' is successful, though - that's how actual crowdfunding works. The moulds have already been paid for, after all. Maybe... just Super Fire Convoy, without the stand, or the vac-metal, or the sword? Maybe God Magnus as a separate release, for combination, but without the vac-metal, Bluebolts, or the stand?

That way there's a fancy, exclusive, version for those who want both toys/Omega Prime specifically/the best versions/bragging rights/resale value/whatever - and people who don't want both, or can't get it in the limited window, or any of a hundred other reasons can get a less fancy version, or a version without exclusive accessories, or whatever.

Or maybe I'm just grumpy or need to take my meds. I'm definitely a massive hypocrite, though, as I've bought the last three*! :)

*I didn't buy Unicron, of course. I'm not insane**.
**Although given the way the price went I wish I had...

I'm happy we got a new God Magnus and Blue bolts is now a character. This was my first Haslab. I don't collect much G1. I really only have the legacy pretenders

I hope the next Haslab is something I want to skip. But I could see it being a Gigatron/Devil Gigatron combo with some special tiers of the Predacon trio to go with Omega Prime and Sky-Byte.

Agree to disagree unlike VS who I found very underwhelming I think he lived up to the hype and was worth it.
I don’t think so at all. That’d destroy the whole trust and point of a Haslab. They lose all trust if they did that.
I want RR or Liokaiser. Megatron as a Haslab would suck because that can be done easily at retail along with, it is a crime for us to lose out on Galvatron

Fair enough. I think he lived up to the hype, just not the price tag. But I'm glad I own a nice toy of my second-favourite boss baddie, anyway.

Only because they've specifically set up most of their 'crowdfunding' initiatives to not actually be crowdfunding. I'm not suggesting they're anything other than entirely transparent about their later plans, as other crowdfunders are. And as Hasbro have been already, in fact, with the HeroQuest HasLab.

I'd be very happy for nothing I want to ever be a HasLab again, to be honest. It puts all the strain on the customer - which, of course, is why Hasbro do it. It is what it is, and I think it's safe to say I'm not a fan! I'll leave it there. :)

Watch future HasLabs be nothing but the likes of Liokaiser, Devil Gigatron, JRX, God Ginrai, Transformers: Prime Predaking, Road Caesar, Brave Maximus... Everyone claims AG1 is where the money is, Hasbro - do Sunbow HasLabs*!

*My money's on Primus for the next one, to go with the Thirteen Primes...

While I think he did mostly I mean I wouldn't have said no to him being cheaper.
I can see him being the Titan tbh.
It's not impossible. IDK who they do who'd sell but I'm sure there's something like Haloing Maximus they could do.

I had to look him up, that's how much attention I pay to Sunbow! :)

I'd thought Sunbow Devastator was a shoo-in, but apparently not...

To bring it back to BW, one of the perceived "rules" of HasLab (which turns out to have been a misunderstanding, apparently) was that it would never be an Optimus Prime. The one rule that hasn't been stepped on yet is "no redecos". If Beast Wars did get a HasLab, basically everyone has something out there as redeco potential. Rampage into Shokaract. Optimal Optimus into Primal Prime. Even Magnaboss and Tripredacus into their Japanese decos. We don't have any obvious one-and-done bots.

So either the "rules" will change, or Beast Wars won't be in HasLab. Both are good things in my mind.

Just because there is a redeco possibility doesn't imply that they must redeco it. They have yet to milk Skyquake and Dreadwing from the legacy line..
There could easily be BW design in Haslab with redeco potential, that simply won't get a redeco, thereby not breaking that "rule"

The HasLab figures to date haven't had a genuine redeco option in the form of a different character, so it was perhaps part of their selection criteria. But if something like a Depth Charge and Rampage set was done as a HasLab, it would be a bit sad knowing that Shokaract would never be done.

Maybe we’ll see a Generations Selects Yellow Splendid Convoy from HasLab Super Fire Convoy?

I’d buy that like my life depended on it! :)

Rules are made to be broken, Hasbro - do it!

Do a Super Fire Convoy, too, and claim ‘the HasLab was for Omega Prime, this is Optimus Prime’. Then I can buy it and flog my HasLab! :)

I need Hasbro to pull out a Thundercats crossover from all the Feline beast wars characters and non beast wars cats they've made.

They pretty much have the complete team of cat types already to retool for a 5 pack.

    Lion-O : Leo Prime.
    Tigra : Tigatron
    Panthro : Further Tigatron retool
    Cheetara : Cheetor
    Jaga : Thundertron?

Skip the thunder kittens and Snarf.

You could also make this exact assortment in Voltron colors...

    We don't really need Snarf.

Yeah, but then they would not combine.

Voltron's hold shtick is that the combine. You take the way the main attraction from Voltron.
