Ha, awesome - cheers for that. Saved me a job. Hope it went down well with the beer. I am on something French and alcoholic tonight as I found a secret stash in the fridge which I must have put there and forgotten about :D

Hope you enjoyed it anyway mate...the beer and the review ;)

Here are a few pics from the article for anyone who hasn't read it, but please do and let me know what you think :)

I enjoyed both very much! That was a great review, thanks! It's made the wait even more difficult, though, as (apart from the shoulders), it sounds like a lot of fun. Although you have made me want a Reprolabels set for it, as now that you've pointed it out, I can't un-see the weird "4" on the Martini-shaped box. That won't ruin it for me, though! It's a shame you say the face sculpt looks a bit chubby, as it looks great in pictures. Anyway, I now need to go and fish out my Casio calculator... :)

(By the way, regarding the IDW thing, GT said that they based loads of the robot design on this IDW picture: Generation Toy Jazz / J4ZZ. But then they used a modern Porsche mode, the same as *other* IDW comics, and used a lot of creative licence, so I guess it's sort if "IDW-inspired" at best. I'll take more of the same too, though!)

Ah that picture explains where those leg pistons came form. Sweet, cheers for that (will throw in a cheeky edit and give you a mention). Yeah, I can see it now but in general I've noticed that often when anything gets a modern look or non G1 animation/Marvel design people refer to it as IDW - simply because it has a lot of detail.

The Martini box on the hood is an odd one because it in no way looks bad, it's just once you notice it that it strikes you as an odd choice. I can understand what it is, having studied the picture long enough to pick out what it was, but I just don't get whey they felt the need to merge the two. Strange choice, and perhaps it's due to the shorter length of the stripe? Dunno.

Thanks for the kind words mate!

Ha, hopefully they get through the filters;)

Cheers mate, really appreciate folk taking the time to read it and especially say such nice things:)

J4ZZ is a lot of fun, but it's the car mode that really lifts it in my opinion. Bot mode is good and all that, but that Porsche body really is splendid.

I still cant figure out why they painted the forearms silver and left the feet white?
    Wouldnt they use LESS paint?

Im still gonna buy this beauty. Just makes you wonder how these details slip QC...

How is a design/aesthetic choice to not paint the feet a QC problem?

I know many people will say he isn't G1 enough because of the robot mode but for me he fits in great.

Great pics! It is pretty nice that he fits in so well with other G1 characters.

    Thanks for that!

I know what you mean. I'd actually love some IDW-style figures of all the Autobots from Infiltration and All Hail Megatron (especially Cliffjumper as a Mini). But I'd be just as happy with some more figures like J4ZZ, that aren't necessarily IDW, but do the same thing of taking a G1 character and updating it to use the modern version of the car. So, as someone else said upthread, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as Aventadors (I think I spelled that right?), Bumblebee as a modern 2012+ Beetle with the bonnet on his chest, and so on. Then again, that would be a slippery slope as I already have too many figures and spend too much money...

    Anyway, great review and pictures!

    Thank you :)

I don't like the Don Figueroa IDW designs (which GT sadly used for their Stunticons) but the other IDW models are all pretty good and I'd like to see them in toy form. Especially from the early "ations" and All Hail Megatron as you suggest. Would love a Ratchet in that early Infiltration style though.
It would just be nice to see a bit of deviation from every company going for the G1 cartoon, even though that's what I look for too!
