Tempted to get either First Aid or OP EX because he’s on sale. Any advice? I love First Aid, but Op Ex seems like an amazing.

From the red, white, and black perspective, yes, he would fit. I was thinking about first responder characters. Police, fire, ambulance alt-modes.

Release update: Well, I'm bummed to report that the release date on this Amazon Japan listing has been delayed to March 31, 2021.

Maybe the listing is a scam as a couple of you have said. I've just never come across a scam on Amazon before. Time will tell.

I'll report back after March 31.

That's from a 3rd Party seller... All that is, is their initial ETA for the product. Not necessarily that actual release date.

Forgive me if this question is too fan-wanky/head canon, but what "universe" do you put these guys with?

They're not quite G1 or IDW designs. That isn't a knock against them, they just don't mesh with other figures with those aesthetics, at least for my personal tastes (like FT Stunticons being G1, and TFM ones being IDW).

Any thoughts?

 

One thing to remember with the end of March, June, September, and December is that those are also the last day of a Quarter. So March 31st is most likely (not guaranteed) just a 1Q 2021 date, and could also just be a placeholder they threw on themselves and will update to June 30th if it doesn't hit. Advancing one month to April 30th is also possible, but would require more changes doing it monthly.

 

Thanks! That is good basic market information to keep in mind. Amazon Japan just emailed me that the estimated delivery date is May 21 - June 1. Sheesh!

 

No problem at all! I'm not a toon purist, and I like the extra details in the Generation Toy Protectobots lineup so far. So, these bots are going to go with my G1 collection. The only thing I'm afraid of is that the combined mode is too small compared to the new Combiner standard as shown with the recent Menasor wars between FT, XTB, and DX9 (15" versus 19"+).

Maybe that's not the definitive answer you were looking for, but out of the options available so far (MMC's and X-Transbots' upcoming releases notwithstanding), GT's aesthetic in bot, alt, and combined modes is the one I like best.

 

They most definitely are in my Comic/IDW/voyager sized collection.

I look at them as MP's with an updated alt mode. they are the same height as the carbots and figuring Hot Spot will be Prime height or bigger. I figure they match decently to Zeta's combaticons with their updated aesthetic, though the difference in combiner height might be a problem, will have to wait and see.
