Wow, what a good looking figure. I'm gonna have to get another detolf just for IDW MP and CHUG stuff. Great pics @kgorman79. I really like the backdrop you used

Cheers! The background is the insert to a 3P box, but I can't remember which figure it was. Found it in the garage and i've been using it for a few weeks now, works quite well!

So I got my copy today, and I transformed him. And he looks great. No argument there. That said, I have.... Questions

The manual IS setting you up for failure right? Like, I am 99% sure it's impossible to transform him by following the manual in order. Step 33 is a copy of step 23, but it's impossible to do 33 due to the intervening 10 steps between 23. Then it has you extend the shoulders and deploy the grey flaps AFTER you peg in the upper body in place, which I am not even sure is possible, since the shoulders need to be extended up to tab around the cavity where the head rests. I am not sure why Baltmatrix praised the manual there. It's actually hindered me more than anything.

I love the figure, but man, there's some questions there

This Megatron looks so ominous in both bot and bomber modes! I love that!!! Simply wicked!

Received mine today shortly before I left for work.

I transformed him ASAP, and in the brief time I had him in hand, I found that I really like that robot mode. His joints are nice and tight, and he looks very imposing standing next to my MT MP Megs, and the only thing I don't like are the light up eyes, so I need to remember to remove the batteries from his head soon.

I just realized the paint has rubbed off on the tip of his nose. Wonder what I can use to cover that and color match the face.

Aside from this guy being awesome, I haven't seen a MP packaged this well since I don't know when. The box is even worth keep to store stuff.

Yup they use some nice cut out black foam and a really sturdy jewelry box style setup for him and their previous optimus. Took quite a bit to shake the thing off to get him out. Makes your average takara mp clamshell cardboard box feel cheaped out and lazy. Very much feels like they wanted to package both like special gifts.

I really hope GT plans on continuing this particular line for as long as possible, if their Megs is an indicator of the future some very very special toys will eventually make their way in to this line, like best of all time type stuff it could end up so damn good. Man if they did Don's Ultra Magnus holy shit my Takara Magnus would go right in to storage immediately. I suspect they're going to inevitably end up competing with GC on many future releases.

Not just Megs and Op. GT's used this setup on every figure they've released under the Generation Toy and TFM labels.

So just got him today from bababobo, and it has to make you wonder, how is the official MP Meg like $70 more than this guy? And I got him for even cheaper, thanks to a flash sale, so he ended being $110. I mean, I do like MP Megs, and I did pay a lot less for him from Anime Export, but even then that's a $50 difference between what I paid for each, and this guy probably feels better made. And I agree, he feels like a contender for best 3p fig of the year.

Yeah you look at the prices companies like GT and Zeta etc are regularly working with relative to what they're putting out and its clear that some companies have way wayyyy lower development costs somehow. And then you look at Takara's prices often and realize holy shit they're basically scamming people a lot of the time. No way in hell their megatron needed to cost over 200 bucks.
