I believe they are the creators of Botcon and are known for there rather large Transformer collection and are currently on the Master Collector's advisory panel for the TF convention and club.

I'm sure someone else can provide a much more accurate explanation.

I believe they are best known for being the pioneers of Botcon.
I understand the need to trim down a collection. Someties it just gets too big. I no longer collect any current lines {Armada, Energon, Cybertron}. I'm getting rid of most of my G2, not much left.

... and despite what I said about not being interested... if I had that kind of scratch, part of me would probably bid on them, just because it was Jon and Karl

I dont see them as any big thing especially without the leaders but to defend the price that is being spent on them, Fort Maxs go for far more (than current price) and there are literally craploads of them about in circulation.

Hurt me...? no... However It does sadden me to think that someone is willing to spend well over a thousand bucks for a tiny piece of plastic. And it saddens me because I can think of hundreds of other good uses a thousand bucks can do for this world.

And not that I feel it would justify spending this much on these items but more than likely whoever buys it is never going to remove it from the packaging so this over $1000 tiny piece of plastic is never going to serve any intrinsic purpose other than either decoration on a display case (which frankly I can get the same effect by printing out a HQ picture of it for a couple bucks at Wal-Mart) or hidden away in some box for protection so that the cycle can continue over and over again to other like-minded people.

And as to why I think people go to such ends to otain these has more to do with the psychological state of the individual than his or her financial level of savviness.

So don't click on the auctions then, if you know you'll just get all annoyed about them. SOOOO simple.

I agree with you, but I also think you should take Draven's advice. There's no explaining the MISB mind.

Unfortunately its not as simple as not clicking on the auctions to avoid seeing this. There are 8 of these items that are going to be listed over the course of the next few weeks and every single time you know most, if not all, of the main TF news pages are going to feature and highlight them.

Pfft, its all about what you want and disposable income, when i think of the money I have lost from flash cars it makes me want to cry, but it was what I wanted at the time. Live and let live, you dont know what these people do for others, Bill Gates is a big monopolistic werid jerk but still gives millions to needy causes. It is not my place to judge, and to be frank, unless you live in a tent, wear clothes woven from plants and dedicate yourself full time to making the world a better place (seems you have taken a break to go on the internet ;) ) its not your place to judge others either or what they could use their money for.

...so you see an article about them and skip over it. It's hardly difficult, is it?

    *bites tongue*

This is awesome, a definite piece of Transformer history.

Good luck to the winning bidders on these guys, once in lifetime opportunity that’s for sure :thumb

    $3,050.
That's got to be a single TF price record.
    Just, wow.

I think people who make posts like this are just jealous. If you can't understand spending that money, tough to you. I can and so can many others.

I say congratulations to the winner!

That is a lot of money for a TF, but it is so rare. So I can see why it was so much. I too congratulate the winner. I hope someday I can be successful enough to buy that.

I second that. :)  Even though I couldn't see myself paying money for a piece just because of it's rarity; If I had 4Gs to spare, I'd grab me a Convoy lucky draw with the quickness! :rock

Jeebus! $3,000?! And First Aid is pretty much the lamest of the bunch, at least in terms of similarity to the G1 version. I shudder to think what Streetwise and Drag Strip are going to go for.
