I don't know why I really want to do customs but only end up doing one per year... Hoping to change that. I need more practice before I get good.

Anyway, no huge master plan on this one. Just messing around. I bought this Wheelie a while back for not too much. Then, a couple of weekends ago, I picked up a loose RTS Jazz for cheap and thought, "I bet those blue windows would look good with Wheelie's orange color".

One thing lead to another and I did some OK color matching, some passable removal of the spoiler and resculpting of the back end, and a bit of slightly sloppy painting with rattle cans and Gundam markers.

I'm the end, though, I think the blue windows and silver accents work better and the lack of a spoiler is more in line with other Wheelies, so I'm satisfied.

Taking the spoiler off was a good idea. Makes it look so different. And you’re right. The blue windows look nice with wheelie. Did you have to add anything to fill in where the spoiler was removed?

Oh yeah. Filled that in with Apoxie sculpt. I think someone less reckless might have found a way to do it without leaving a hole, but they still would have needed to resculpt the back window. Me, I was just like, "Okay, let's try the saw."

I dunno, for me half the fun is f***ing up and having to figure out a way to fix it.

It’s been awhile since I had my RTS Jazz (or any of his mold buddies) out of storage. Is the windshield part of the roof? Or is the windshield a separate piece?

So the windshield is part of the roof. That bit I ended up sanding down all the paint from the RTZ Jazz down to the bare clear plastic and building it back up with a few shades of orange.

The side windows are screwed to the interior door panels and were a cinch to get off.

This mold would be a customizer's dream except for the fact that the pin holding in the roof has the studded bits in the middle rather than at one of the ends, and so is an absolute nightmare to get in and out.

Otherwise, all the pins are easy to access, there's ample use of screws, and no parts seem to be glued together that I can tell.

Very nicely done. The back window looks great…nice work removing the spoiler. And yes, the blue windows on Wheelie are a nice touch.

    I like it!

Flattered to hear that from the undisputed king of the RTS Jazz mold.
