Hello all, I've decided to once again buy a bunch of figures and fill in holes within my collection. I'll try and update as many G1 holes as possible but there will be some omissions. I have a list of what I want to get done but don't want to post it as it'll serve no purpose other than disappointment if I don't finish.

There will be some imports from my first limbswap fiesta post but I'll try to keep those mostly in group shots. That thread is here:

I'm going to keep everything to this thread so it'll be very pic heavy.

My basic personal ground rules/preferences are:
1) Minimal painting. Which means that the figure's primary colouring is as close as possible to who I'm making. Dyeing will take precedence.
2) Try to emulate transformation/gimmicks as much as possible. There will be a lot of exceptions here.
3) Minimal actual kitbashing. I've got an exacto-knife, a bit of epoxy and super glue. I'll be avoiding styrene like the plague.

Anyway enough self-indulging. For my first posting I bring a very simple Kranix and Arblus



Based on these alt-modes

 

Up next are Throttlebots Rollbar and Wideload. My only rule with the Throttlebots is that their feet become the front of the vehicle. The other 4 will be a while as the molds aren't out yet.

That works pretty well for arblus and kronix

Very nice start to the throttle bots can't wait to see what the rest are going to look like. If you don't mind doing a second wide load I could suggest an oversized swindle or Rook knock off as an alternative. Using a larger body might make the alt mode proportions work a bit better.

Up next Sparkabots. I didn't update Sizzle and Fizzle since my last thread, but did change up Guzzle. He's still not G1 grey but I felt brown kind of works for his IDW look.

 

Up next, fixed up Masterforce Headmaster Jr's, de-headmastered unfortunately. These are imported from the last thread however there were some slight fixes.

Main 3 plus G1ified Pharma.

Rook and Alpha Bravo join to create a new Guard city team.

Cab/Hosehead is the sole member retaining his headmaster gimmick. He uses the LG Cab head. I updated the previously white painted parts to a silver metallic that just looks less sloppy.

Minerva had the combiner port swapped so that the LG headmaster ball joint would fit.

No changes to Siren/Goshooter since my last thread

Pharma has no changes other than a red cross sticker for his alt mode.


I never posted a combined mode in my last thread so here it is. I'm just going with the name Guard City for him. Nothing spectacular nor anything to point out, just figured if they can combine I'll show it off.

Up next is Sky Garry that I updated since my last thread. This was probably the least enjoyable custom for me to date, it feels like it needs more work but I just don't want to look at the thing anymore. I gave him new guns, new kneecap wing things and redid the head.


The head is now a Titans return Octone gun trimmed down and glued to the back of Astrotrain's head. I was pretty stoked on the fit, but that's essentially all that I like about the thing.

Decepticon headmaster Jrs, without the headmastering and Browning. Just importing these from the last thread. Nothing new other than a combined mode photo.

 

Really creative, just the way I like it  . Awesome job.

 

So I don't want to get into the habit of posting things before they're done but the last few parts are in the mail and may take a while. So here's Blue Bacchus, 95% done. Just missing some green on his cockpit and his landing blades.

Alt mode is janky but I based it on the G1 toy that looks like all the helicopter bits got added as an afterthought

Nice choice of headsculpt  
It makes a lot of sense to me as I noticed that Optimal Optimus' gorilla head looks a lot like Transmetals/Armada Rhinox's robot head and I used the latter one for my Jhiaxus custom.

 

Thanks, yeah I definitely remember seeing the Rhinox head used when I was Googling around for inspiration. I probably saw yours haha.

 

I googled for "Jhiaxus custom" now, too. Unfortunately didn't find mine so I guess the one you saw is the one with RotF Voyager class Mindwipe's body. It looks great, too.

Btw which of the CW Starscream mold versions did you use for this?

 

He's a bit of a mishmash. Chest, crotch, and jet parts are all Starscream. Arms and legs are Jetfire. The upright fins in jet mode are Thundercracker.

That's a great Jhiaxus. The Rhinox head works really well!

 

Some quick and easy Season 2 cameos next:

Up first another import from my last thread: Devcon.
The usual Legends Scourge with some red accents upgraded since my last thread with Blurr's head.


Next a simple limb swap between CW Cyclonus and Scattershot:
Alpha Trion

The head naturally comes from TR Alpha Trion, whom I very much loathed. I know another user did a similar custom so a shoutout to them as well.





And finally, B.o.t.


I'm gonna play around and see if I can do something about an alt mode but nothing for now.
