I'm not entirely sure if it's THEE Gary Chalk, but from I understand no 2 actors can share the same name, and I don't think GARY CHALK is a very common name.

Granted, SG-1 is over now... but Sci-Fi re-runs episodes the same night. At the moment is Atlantis, then a 1 1/2 hour Battlestar Galactica and then a re-airing of SG-1.

So for those who are interested, stay up late and watch it.

He's been on the show several times. He plays a Russian officer, a general I think. In this ep I'm pretty sure he's the captain of the Russian ship. It would be easy to miss him with the Russian accent he uses.

Colonel Chekov I believe. I haven't seen last night's yet so I don't know if he ended up getting the ship, but until that point he was Russian liason to the SGC.

    He's also in 8 Below...

And yeah, he's Colonel Checkov. And he was at the helm of the Russian Daedalus Class Cruiser.

Colonel Chekov. That's it. I remember now thinking it was close to the Walter Koening's character in Star Trek when they called out his name on the ship.

BTW, he's also been in highlander and Outer limits as well. He's one of those actors who done a lot more than you think so you get many times when your watching tv and say "Oh. It him!" .

Just a random slightly off topic thing, anyone else notice that the leader of the village was the guy who played Denethor in Return of the King?

YES!! So I wasn't crazy or the only one who thought that then!
I've just been too lazy to look it up and see if they were the same actor.

Haha nope, you're not crazy. I didn't look it up, but I've got a knack for picking up things like that.

Yup, he was Dum Dum Dugin. The guy who plays Mayborne on SG-1 is also in it along with a couple of other people.

I love watching Gary on Stargate. What episode of Highlander is he supposed to be in though?

Here are a few other Canadian actor spots for the BW cast those who are interested:

    Venus Turzo (Blackarachina)
currently on Da Vinci Inquest (medical drama)
Stargate SG-1 episode Frozen season six she plays one of the Antarctica base personel
Highlander - episodes Leader of the Pack she plays the young woman at the dog kennel

    Jim Byrnes (Inferno)
    Highlander - Joe Dawson regular
    Wiseguy - Lifeguard regular
Stargate SG-1 he does the voiceover for the tribute tape in the episodes where Janet dies, plus he's the general on Stargate Infinity

    Scott McNeil
Highlander - Robert MacLeod in the season 4 episode Homeland, he gets to sword fight with Duncan/Adrian Paul in the flashback, but it's hard to recognize Scott with the accent and period hair, beard, and dress.

I'm sure there are a lot more, but there are some of my favorites.

He's in the season one episode "Innocent Man". He plays one of the towns people. He's mostly in the diner, but I think he's one of the ones who trys to go after the person they think killed Duncan's friend and puts a pillowcase on his head like a pseudo kkk. I'm pretty sure he's one of the towns people who has the most lines as well.

Did I see the name David Kaye in the credits for BattleStar Galactica on Friday or did I mistake something else for it?

Thanks. I don't know how I missed that one. Then again, it's been ages since I rewatched season 1. It's usually my friend, not me, who is able to spot a Canadian actor at twenty paces. It took me forever to realize that was Gary on Stargate with that Russian accent.

Garry's been a recurring character for quite a few years now. Hope his character survives that mess at the end.

I know he's been on it for a few years now. I was talking about when the character first showed up back in season six or so about not knowing it was him. It took me a few episodes to figure it out, but after I saw him at BotCon I knew for sure it was him. And I hope they don't kill off Chekov either. SG-1 is good about not killing off their main cast (that mistake with Daniel aside), but they have killed off some of my favorite supporting characters for no good reason - Martouf, Lantash, Janet, Jacob/Selmak. I hope Chekov doesn't join their number anything soon...or at all.
