i qot aquestion when it comes to theshow when it comes tot he comic series it isa direct continuation of the animated seresi fro mthe end of seson 2 on if the show had continued in such a way that the storylines of the comic had bee ndirectly addapted into theshow for a officla third seaon what all mihgt have happened to goliath elzia and their relationship in the lng temr? to be honest i actually think it would have been interesting to have seen the two go through with adopting the gargoyle clone delilah since she is at least in part a hybrid clone of eliza maza for all intents and purposes delilah is a half human gargoyle and i actually think it would have been a suitable way for eliza and goliath to have a child of their own to raise and at the same time give angela a little sister to bond with over time perhaps even serve in its way as a way for domena and eliza to make some small meausre of lasting peace with each other what with delilah being eliza and demona's hybrid clone daughter
Well, I think I can safely say that the show would not be able to fit into the DC animated universe. Just want to throw that out there before you start a new thread about it.
Yes, the comic was Greg Weisman's REAL third season and is supposed to replace the Goliath Chronicles that was produced without his input. It adapts the only S3 episode that's considered canon, "The Journey" and continues from there. It's mostly what he would've done 11 years ago with a few changes considering he had the chance to come back to the storyline after a decade. The comic would've continued further if not for the fact Disney charged an astronomical rate for the rights to their property, to the point where SLG comics couldn't afford to continue producing them. It was a severe disappointment for us long-time fans after having a favorite show practically return from the dead and then by scuttled by the very company that first produced it. Then of course, there's this stupid movie... Anyways, as for Goliath and Elisa, they broke up, then quickly got back together and would've stayed together for the rest of their lives after a sort of commitment ceremony, according to Greg's "master plan".
Disney and the Gargoyles property should be a lecture topic in college. really, "25 M.B.A.s in a Room and They Still Scramble the Golden Egg." Until JLU, Gargoyles was the closest to BTAS and they tossed it in favor of regurgitating other junk. as for the comic- i had heard that it was the continuation of the show. it set a precedent which Joss Whedon would eventually follow with his "extra season" comics of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. comics allow a frustrated, sometimes ripped off show creator a chance to complete their vision and make the fans happy with a fitting conclusion.
The fact Disney hasn't in some way shape or form brought back this series or the concept of Gargoyles is absolutely mind boggling. Especially in this day and age where cartoon and comic book movies can manage to rake in big money. A live action Gargoyles movie would be so easy to pull off it's not even funny, hell they could just do a scene for scene remake of their origin story and call it quits right there.
It's a bloody shame that this show never finished its run on DVD. I have season 1 and half of season 2. At least I have up to the Avalon visits.
A damn shame indeed that S2 V2 will never see the light of day. Which means we'll never see on dvd: -Future Tense -Ill My By Moonlight, The Gathering (P1+2) -Hunter's Moon (P1-3) The one silver lining for me is at least the "City of Stone" 4-parter made in onto S2 V1, possible the best television ever written (animated or otherwise)
He might try since Greg Weisman is on the writing team for Young Justice..... OT: This was one of Disney's greatest in house television projects. The first two seasons were pretty much on par with good live action programming, and ate any other cartoon that wasn't Batman or Superman for breakfast. All of its characters were well developed, flawed and for the most part, awesome.
After the show ended, I had always hoped that they would do an animated movie back then. I wish they would at least finish the dvd's.
You can add me to the list of people pissed at Disney for not releasing the rest of the Gargoyles series on DVD. As a matter of fact, I boycott Disney series on DVD because they don't release the rest of the Gargoyles series. I just don't trust them to finish any series anymore.
