Considering Renly is her type Tormund might be barking up the wrong tree. He's a bit too good for Brienne the Brute anyway, ever since she was rescued from Harrenhal I've found her to be an unlikable character. I half expected her to lop off Davos and Mel's head last episode.

GRRM's said a lot of things over the years. He's consistently spoken of the influence of Tolkien though and hinted at a more traditional ending to what has been a subversive journey. I'm expecting a bitter sweet ending but it will be Dany and/or/with Jon left standing at the end of it all.

 

We're talking about endings of the series now?

Here's my actual, literal expectation for the end of the books. Not the show, the books.

I expect Sansa to sit the Iron Throne and rule all of a broken Westeros, Queen Elizabeth style. This is why it was so important that she is still a virgin, and why it was such a huge deal on the show that she isn't. it wasn't the rape that bothered me as much as subverting the end.
I expect 2/3 dragons to die. I expect another Dance of the Dragons. Ageon will end up crushing Danny's invasion.
I expect Jon Snow to be revealed to being puppetted by Bran.
I expect a reveal of R+L=D
And I wouldn't be surprised if Danny find a half buried spaceship on the Isle of Faces and flies away from this Interegnum with her dragon, revealing this entire series to be Sci-Fi, and not Fantasy. Though I do not expect that, it would indeed be awesome.
Oh, and I expect Tyrion to find Tasha, but she's dead, and he returns to rule Casterly Rock alone.
Everyone else will be dead.

The show? I expect ice zombies to fight dragons, and Jon, Danny and Tyrion to ride in on dragons and save the day and everyone lives happily ever after, and it'll be AWESOME BRO!

My thoughts on how GRRM would write a WTF moment:

Jon Gets the North to unite against the Whites, but before they can march, Danny shows up and we get hero vs hero with no happy ending because one of them dies. We then find out the loser is the R+L= person. The winner almost decimated, lose to the whites. Westoros is fucked and Terion ends up ruling Eastos.

 

 

I had noticed the looks of their faces during the episode and wondered if it could go somewhere... but this vid mix is great!

I have to say, that of this seasons episodes, this is by far one of the better ones.

Though anything with the Night's King is bound to be good IMHO. His backstory plus the battle was very well done. We know more, but not everything. I also think we're down to only Jon's wolf if I'm not mistaken

I just saw tonight's episode. Holy Crap, I can't believe that I almost physically cried at the end, over THAT. I have no doubt now that Game of Thrones is going to stick the landing when the series finale airs. Man, there's SO much left to do before this show ends. Retaking Winterfell, defeating the White Walkers. I just hope that the whole White Walker thing isn't dealt with by having Bran push a magic button that destroys the white walker curse in one swoop (like throwing the one-ring in a volcano). I will say that Arya's story suddenly feels like it's going nowhere. By the time she becomes a many-face assassin every one she pledged to kill will be dead. The many-face storyline better have a huge pay off because I'm about ready to see Ramsay Bolton take a vacation to that city.
