Any suggestions for an inexpensive controller for Vista that works. i am not a huge fan of the xbox controller layout, but if there aren't any ps2 layout controllers worth a darn, i guess i can relearn a new setup. i bought a controller from circuit city that sucks. it is a logitech dual pad. i cannot even begin play even mame games on it. and out of the 15 buttons on it, FSX recognizes 3: directions- but always the wrong ones the X button and the usb jack after i pull it out of the computer and throw the controller down in disgust. thanks for any help here.
I have used both my Wii remote/classic controller and my PS3 controller. both worked great. bluetooth is required for the wii remote, but the PS3 can connect via USB. there's special software you have to get to use them though. tis free.
Second for the USB adaptor if you want a PS2 layout. Not that I particularly like using them thougth, Sony pads make my big man hands ache like hell.
I only use the PS pads for PS and SNES emulation, the latter of which is only because i'm too lazy to chase down an actual SNES pad and buy a converter. I've got 3 arcade sticks, a couple of 360 pads, one of those Saturnesque SF anniversary pads and a flight stick for my other controler needs.
i spliced myself a $5 used madcatz xbox controller with a usb cable that was lying around and it works fine under xp... it would probably work for vista too i'd imagine and it was dirt friggin cheap.
Mouse and keyboard >_> ...if you must have a gamepad though..I'd say just go with a wired 360 controller.
the program is called "ps3sixaxis_en". I just plug the controller in via USB, start the program, hit the PS button, and it's ready to go. unplugging it or turning it the PC off turns the PS3 on though. and you have to run the program every time you want to use the sixaxis.
