FINISHED! I didn't take pictures of the truck because I didn't really do anything to the truck (excpet I guess the exposed leg parts). I was inspired by Stormbringer and Cheetimus' Galvatrons and was intending to do pretty much the same thing. But it turns out dry brushing aluminum over gunmetal looks quite a bit different. In theory, I should have adjusted my paints and tried again. But I really like the way this darker Galvatron is coming out. I probably prefer it to the more screen accurate look I thought I was going for. The only downside is that if I ever try Grimlock, this is probably how I should do that and I don't neccesarily want them to have nearly the same paint style.
Looks good Even if you do repaint your gridlock with those metallics the blue on galvatron will make him look different enough
I didn't even like the figure until I saw what Stormbringer did. Thanks! I'm quite pleased with how he's coming out. This evening I got him to the point where I could call him finished. I think I'll add more hi lights and details, but he's close!
Thanks. All it is is Tamaya gun metal applied with a brush. Some brush paints are tough to apply, this stuff is ridiculously easy. I just discovered it recently and have fallen in love with it. My High Octane BB was the first time I'd ever used it (I tried Testors Gun Metal for something years ago and it wasn't what I needed). http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/982956-wip-high-octane-bb.html I am adding some aluminum dry brush hi-lights (which is a little trickier, but not much). This figure and the gun metal is a great beginner piece. Everything is very forgiving. What Stormbringer and Cheetimus did with Galvatron may be a bit tougher. I'm not positive.
