Another Galvatron, this one a commission for a good customer and friend, but with a twist. I repainted a lot more than what i did on mine, which makes me now want to go back and rework it.
Also did the head mod I perfected with my last one, and it turned out even better.
    List of work:
-Full repaint of the purple into deep metallic purple.
-Full repaint of the gray plastic into a cool gray.
    -Painted the treads and housings.
-Flattened the cannon mount by about 3mm so it isn't so high off the arm.
-Repainted the cannon to make it more striking.
-Added wrists and new hands, including one fully articulated one (Gundam joint, Hobby Base hands).
-Removed jet kibble and built the G1 back spire.
-Rebuilt the head using some random junker and the provided Headmaster. I'm pretty darn pleased with how this one looks.
-Added neck articulation and the ability to fold into the chest.

To be honest, that helmet is so much more convincing that the alternatives that a lot of people make. It looks so menacing, and not huge and out of proportions.

    Thanks!

Thanks! The head is actually the face of the TM the figure came with, mounted on a slightly larger back half of another figure's head, with the horns and 'cheeks' from the pop-up faceplate attached in a more convincing way. I actually separated the cheeks from the horns so they could be mounted without looking like a goalie mask.

Also worth asking, but you based him around Maniaking looks and colours? It kinda looks like that, and it's great.

    Nope, not at all.
I have a favorite purple I like to use (the one I did the MP Shockwaves in), and thought it would look good on Galvatron. As for the gray, I wanted something cool and not warm, so I went with one that almost has a tinge of blue to it.
The cannon was repainted because I liked how the Takara deluxe looked. The gold was an afterthought I used on mine and figured it looked good. Didn't realize it was close to the 3P version, in all honesty, as I don't own one or collect them.

Curious what was used for the back of Galvatron's head there.

I think it was a Cybertron figure, but I'm not sure. The head had the basic shape, so I went with it.

    Thanks!

    Hehehe, thanks!
The customer is pretty happy with it, so he may have an issue with that.

That pattern does wonders to the cannon and over all look. I hate painting white but man are you not helping me with that right now.

    Awesome job!

There's no white paint there. It's silver mist on the cannon and cool gray on the body parts.

    Thanks guys!

This looks pretty sweet. I've been wanting to do something similar to my Galvy but haven't done any painting this extensive I have a couple questions.

    1. For larger/solid areas are you spray painting? Or just using brush?

    2. Arcyllic vs. Enamel? Any clear coating to prevent ruboff/chipping?
