Sonic fans are allegedly an even more fickle bunch than Transformers fans.

Consequently, how awesome would it be if it actually was AoE Galvatron, and he merely traveled into the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. and that this truck cubeforms? That alone would make the Sonic film a must see for me!

Wow, it's amazing how not shit that truck looks with some paint on it. Almost makes you wonder why they didnt just do this and go with Nemesis Prime in AOE instead of yet another Megatron resurection.

What if...and hear me out, TLK Megatron is actually from the Sonic live-action universe, and he switched places with Galvatron? It would explain how Megatron returns in TLK.

And I just saw the trailer, and it was filled with....ROBOTS! Not that robots are uncommon in silly, VERY soft science fiction franchises, but something like Sonic interacting with the cubes of the KSI robots during their transformations could be lots of fun.

And, honest opinion here, I think the Sonic trailer was lots of fun, and I laughed multiple times. I don't get the negative reactions. Yeah, it looks silly and over-the-top, but why shouldn't it be? Other than the song choice not really fitting, I enjoyed the heck out of it. Can't wait!

I think I mentioned it back in 2014, but I'm a bit bummed that truck was used for Megatron/Galvatron. Paint it red, and it would make a beautiful modern Optimus. Especially since him being a Freightliner is canon now. I suppose it could still happen, if they stick with Bumblebee being a new timeline.

Edit: on an unrelated note, I'm kind of worried about Paramount again. Both this and that Dora The Explorer movie look kind of cheap and unfunny. I can't imagine either being big hits (I could easily see both being major flops). This looks like it's trying to copy the tone of Detective Pikachu. Then again, I'm not hugely familiar with any of the above franchises. Quickly Paramount, give us the Optimus and Bumblebee team-up movie before you crash!

Are you kidding? Dora looks like it's not going to take itself seriously in the least. There's some real potential there.

That, and we haven't heard Boots speak yet - he's voiced by fucking Machete of all people.

Not taking itself seriously doesn't necessarily equal good though. Sonic doesn't seem to be taking itself seriously either, but I didn't find either trailer overly funny.

"I think they reused the truck."

It's just the same truck, not exactly the same truck they used for Galvatron in AOE.

Not awesome at all, as a matter of fact.

    That's why he said potential.

It's the same model of truck that acted as Galvatron's alt-mode in Age of Extinction.

Both Sonic and AoE are movies from Paramount. I do believe it's the truck that were used in TF4. It's cheaper to just repaint an existing vehicle, than to get a brand new one. And Galvtron was in their storage for some time now.

I think someone will be inspired to make a custom repaint now.

I imagine it's probably just a matter of time before they get bought out by one of the bigger studios. It'll be interesting to see how the landscape will change over the next 5 years for mid-sized studios.

Paramount who are releasing the new Sonic film also released the last four Transformers films save for the first which was Dreamworks I believe? If you look there is a strong resemblance between Galvatron and the one featured in the new film. Most likely they reused the truck after it had been sitting in storage for years. Also note that a lot of cars featured in the live action Films are either concepts or heavily modified vehicles and so the likelihood of them using another Freight-line Argosy which is near identical save for a few cosmetic changes is unlikely. Plus it is more cost effective to use assets you already own.

Either it's a retrofitted Galvatron or Paramount still has a working relationship with Frieghtliner to purchase these at a discount in return for on-screen credit. Considering I don't see too many of them on the road as they are primarily made for exporting to other countries, Paramount must be expecting higher global sales versus domestic.

The majority of which are powered by small woodland animals.

Or are Metal Sonic, who is hilariously overpowered and unstable.
