Like the title says, is it worth paying for the japan import of the Vector Prime figure, compared to the Hasbro version ? Thanks
If the paint difference does'nt bother you much then no. You can get the TRU Starscream & VP 2 pack for around the same price. I'd go with that.
Definitely not worth it unless you like the color better. I actually waited to get Galaxy Force VP at Botcon, so I didn't have to pay THAT much on import fees. And I heard panel lining the hasbro version makes it much better. Actually saw a Habro VP in person that was panel lined and it looked much better.
Digital Toys has GF Vector Prime for $25 right now. Oh and my vote is for yes, http://www.digital-toys.com/galaxyforce.html
I have the galaxy force and I think this version is much better the sword is not floppy and the force chip is painted. I guess I am really bothered by that. Digital Toys have him for $33 shipped
I got the Galaxy Force one at the outset, and have never yet seen the Cybertron one. But, from pictures online, I think the floppy sword ruins him. However, don't pay too much, as that two pack with Starscream is a great deal, and would be really worthwhile.
Hahaha Should have known you would ask me that. Well, you can check out a thread about it here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/thread83653.html Man, everybody is talking about their GF VP sword. Shame mine won't fit into his hand.
but not everyone do panel lining... I would say go for the GF version, design and character wise, VP is supposed to be an ancient (and extremely old at that) Transformer, and the grey used in the GF version reflects better that. Obviously the extra Paint apps are great too (not just the key, but the chest and wings are painted). The sword is also better, i havent had any single problem with mine yet
... Incase such a thing makes a difference. the electronics on the GF version sound a bit 'scratchy' or rough. This has apparently been fixed on the Cybertron version.
Definitely. Looks so much better than the Cyb. VP. No floppy sword, and unpainted floppy wings. And the fully painted Force Chip too.
Unpainted wings made me say no to Hasbro VP and yes to Takara VP. If not for that, I probably could have lived with the limp sword and the way the lighter white plastic and darker brown paint washes out the molded detail.
hands down, get it. I have the GF and the Cybertron version (from the 2-pack) and the difference is astonishing. I'm normally pretty blind to differences between Takara and Hasbro TFs but VP is REALLY different. It is stupid bright white in Cybertron and a well suited grey and painted in GF. Then there is the limp sword which is just stupid. That was a terrible decision on Hasbro's part. I don't see how a rigid sword is any more dangerous than all the missles on TFs and even the pointy parts of VP.
Not dangerous at all. The rigid sword would have passed safety tests, just like other swords have done in the past. Hasbro wouldn't have even approved the final design had it been obviously dangerous. The issue is that unlike a lot of other TF swords, it's also really thin. Thin enough to snap like a twig. Doubly so because it's molded in translucent plastic, which has no flexibility. Any stresses, and it's gone. It's the reason why there's been so many reports of broken Takara VP sword handles, because people aren't aware of this, and handle it as roughly as other toys they have in the past. And it must be the temperate Vancouver climate or something, but my Hasbro VP hasn't had issues with floppy anything. I've had him stored in a bin with all my other Cybertron toys for several months now, and the wings are still straight, amazingly enough. I think I'm probably one of the few who prefer the Cybertron version to the Takara version. The missing paint apps weren't hard to add myself, and the payoff is a much bolder looking toy. The grey and the faded-rust colour on the Takara VP make him look too washed out, IMO.
