I remember the initial plan at the time was that there were supposed to be four TR box sets, but the last two got scrapped. IIRC that's how we were originally supposed to get the clones, Godbomber, and I *think* the die cast titan masters in the US.

Definitely some last minute with indicative shambles such as skipping Encounter 2 for now for...reasons, and IIRC someone spotted that the BIOSPHERA set has something in the listing/site info indicating it may have initially been Encounter 5 and got shuffled. Was that you @denebian?

You have both the Hb and Takara? Good for you as the original distrubution tactic of Hb was really azzsheetz!

 

You're timeline is off. The first set out was Chaos on Velocitron (the Toys'r'us set) and was out well before Toys'r'us shut down. The 2nd set out was Siege on Cybertron (the BBTS set) and then the 3rd set out was the Walgreens 2 pack at the tail end of Titans Return, which was on Walgreens shelves for about a year. Both of the big box sets were out well before the Walgreens 2 pack

I had the TR versions of all 4 and got the Takara Autobots becuase I cracked the hands on my Hasbro ones. Ditched the Takara ones pretty quick due to the colors. The hardest thing about the Hasbro clones was getting the Velocitron set, Toys'r'us wasn't very good about actually stocking it in my area

Even weirder is that it's supposed to release the same day as the Ratchet/Lifeline 2 pack, 12/3/2020, least that's the date my preorders say

 

I really want Earth molds of Sideswipe, Hound, Mirage, and Red Alert so I hope we get them.

Man toys r us going under globally really hurt more then anyone knew

 

I remember the BBTS set taking forever to come in stock, constantly going back and forth from in stock to sold out, and just being a mess, Scalpers having a field day with it. I am aware the other two but by the time the dust settled properly everything was all said and done

 

Toys'r'us going under had nothing to do with the "cancellation" of the other 2 Titans return box sets as Toys'r'us didn't go under until after Titans return. What most likely happened was poor sales of most of the combiner box sets led to the cancellation of the Titans return sets but the first 2 were too far along to not release. It is heavily rumored/speculated that Arcee/Ultra Magnus and Grotusque/Scorponok are the deluxes and titanmasters from the 2 cancelled sets, so the only things we missed out on were the 2 voyagers and the 2 leaders

 

Please note that some of these are mirrored for the sake of clarity, which is why the tabs on Fastclash/Fastlane's legs are different.

Any differences in hue and saturation might be the result of the photos being taken in different conditions, or being subsequently edited.

 

Yeah, ultimately it'll take in-hand pictures of the final production GOC Clonebots to know for sure, we sure can't 100% judge by the Amazon Gallery, not only due to lighting & composition but also as we already have the indication that they may not be accurate to final product given the differences between the Paradron gallery Ratchet and the early review copies seen (which I'm hoping reflect the final product as a mostly-white Ratchet makes for an improved van mode and could be easier to 'toon redeco).
