I just received G2 Prime in the mail. It's gorgeous! I can't for the life of me figure out how to attach the soundpack to Prime's back, though. Does it securely attach to the figure, or just dangle precariously from the back?

It should fit pretty well; IIRC there is a clip on the soundpack that clips to part of Prime's back. And yes, gorgeous figure. Congrats!

For me... it always just kinda sat there... somewhat precariously. The bottom edge of the soundpack's clip for the trailer just sits in a notch on the 'platform' sticking out of Prime's back.

That's exactly it with mine -- the bottom edge of the clip (used for truck mode) just sits dangerously on the protruded section behind Prime's back. But it sure as heck doesn't clip on securely. Was this designed to be this way, or just a fan mode over the years to incorporate the sound pack into the robot mode?

I've always seen it attached to the trailer. Never to the robot.

Yep, funny little coincidence... inspired by the picture in the Generations book so...

If it was just a fan mode, it's made it's way into an official publication. However, I do think it was intentional since that slot on the back of Prime is a remold. I remember noticing that difference between my G1 & G2 Primes and 'discovering' the soundpack could sorta clip on there. I don't think it was in the instructions though.

I don't recall it ever being attached easily, if at all.

...and i didn't want to force it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember the commercials showcasing Prime's "talking battle phrases" and having the backpack attached to Prime's back. It's been a while and I was in the ARMY in the 90's so I didnt pay much attention LOL!
