Other than the 2010 BotCon set, the Wal-Mart Exclusive Skyfall homage to Cyberjet Skyjack & Tokyo Toy Show Exclusive Smokescreen & Dreadwing, are there any other G2 homages out there or in the works? -G
Wal-Mart Movie Jolt and Divebomb were originally supposed to be Universe G2 Jolt and Hooligan, but Wal-Mart wanted movie packaging... (ditto for Big Daddy, Grindcore, Fracture, Crankcase, and Breakaway)
Technically, Univ. Inferno is supposed to be G2 because he had the water gun instead of the ladder. I think Walmart Fearswoop is the homage to Hooligan.
I still hate that reasoning for Inferno's lack of a ladder. G2 Inferno had a water cannon, yes. But he still had the ladder.
...a ladder would have taken him over a Voyager size scale. I am interested in seeing how they will do Grapple who has a crane.
Fearswoop and Divebomb were both Wal-Mart exclusives and both homages of Hooligan. The Cybertron Thundercracker repaint was supposed to be Classics Hooligan.
Universe Inferno's packaging flags him up as a G2 character. It's why he has the water cannon. Movie 2007 Jolt - the purple Wal Mart one - is a homage to one of the Laser Rods. There's also the Wal Mart Fury of Fearswoop set which is actually a homage to Hooligan rather than Fearswoop.
Actually a repaint of Hailstorm in G2 Mindsets colors is already planned. Mindset - ROTF Main Line - Transformers Resources
Thanks for the help guys! Anyone ever seen a headswap done on the Fearswoop mold? The cyclops just doesn't do it for me... -G
I'm pretty sure you've got your stories mixed up. Fracture, Crankcase, and Breakaway were intended to be Universe characters, yes. But the other wave (Big Daddy and pals) was out before Universe existed. Jolt was originally intended to be a Road Hugger homage, rather than Jolt (though, he really looks like neither), and Divebomb's bio sounds more like Sunstorm than Hooligan.
