This will make sense if you are a car person but will seem like meaningless rambling to anyone else. It probably is anyway ;)

Okay here is something I randomly thought about.

In G1 there are 2 characters that turn into Mazda RX-7's:
    reduced-g1lgetaw-l1.jpg 30.jpg
Getaway (RX-7 FC) and Camshaft (RX-7 FB)

Here is why they are funny. Mazda RX-7 is pretty unique among sportscars because it was designed with a Wankel Rotary engine instead of a conventional piston engine (example for non car people: think "V8").
A rotary engine looks like this:
    induction.png
Something you will notice is that NOWHERE IN THIS ENGINE IS A CAMSHAFT!
...we'll get back to this later

Getaway is a "Powermaster". The gimmick of Powermasters is that the Powermaster partner (In this case, "Rev", or "Lightfoot") transforms into the engine of the car.

This doesnt look like a rotary engine...
    (Or really much of anything)

Now if you are in the car community, you most likely have heard of the "LS SWAAAP!!!" Where people will swap a car's original engine for a Chevy V8 engine in the LS family of engines. The most common donors being '90s camaros and Chevy Tahoes, but usually people call them "Corvette Engines" because that is what they were designed for) Lower quality LS engines can be brought up to corvette standards by changing the Camshaft to the corvette model.

RX-7s are one of the most common candidates for this swap because the Wankel Rotary engines are considered unreliable and are known to break down. This is considered a huge crime by some parts of the Japanese/JDM car community and has become a topic of memes and jokes.

So Getaway is an RX-7 whose gimmick is literally swapping out the engine.

And Camshaft is an RX-7 who has an engine with a camshaft... Probably an LS Swap :D

Both of these characters were designed and named in the 1980s before LS Swaps or even the LS Engine existed so this is obviously just nonsense. But it is kind of ironic in retrospect.

Transformers Masterforce takes place in the 2010s in cannon. Lightfoot (the japanese version of getaway) lives in Canada in the 2010s. In real life, LS Swaps were very common by this time in North America. So Lightfoot would have no problem finding replacement engine mounts if he ever needed to repair his transector

That’s hardly a new discovery, but I always found the irony amusing. Being a kid that was very much “into” cars, I recognized the conflict with Camshaft’s name when I first saw the Omnibot mail-away offers back in the mid-80s. I just assumed they had accidentally mixed up the names with one of the other Omnibots (likely Downshift, because in my experience, the RX-7 needed frequent downshifts to stay in a higher rpm range due to its low torque).

I had stopped collecting TFs by the time Getaway came out, so I wasn’t aware it was also a rotary Mazda. I didn’t even know of the character until a few years ago (through IDW).

Sorta off topic if you want to collect all the RX7's as official transformers in the Transformers Q line Sun Streaker and Drift were both FD3S.

Case in point: G1 Camshaft and Downshift do have their names swapped in Japan!

Because he's male and therefore that's not his job. What you should be asking is why he's not out there trying to bone queen bees. :D

    Tailgate doesn't have a tailgate...
    Cool, I never knew that.
Most scientifically accurate sentence I never expected to see

Whatever Ironworks (the station) is supposed to be, it's very certainly not an actual ironworks facility.

I just realized that you can mistransform Brushguard's feet to give the vehicle mode a Brushguard
