I just recently bought a g1 commemorative reissue of ultra magnus and I've gotta say, "well that's just pr-- errr, magnus." to my understanding, most of the boxy, plastic-y toys from the '86 line after the movie were lacking in quality compared to the '84 and '85 lines. magnus was of a different caliber however due to his design being borrowed from the diaclone powered convoy, and i've got to say there's a lot going on with this figure. given my moniker, this toy was long overdue. i think it is a worthy addition to any g1 collection, and a solid stand-alone as well.

does anyone have a comparison shot of magnus and powermaster optimus, with or without the apex armor? thx!

Actually, I moved my UM to the office today. Someone found these glass-fronted display cases (like a book case with glass doors) in storage, I snagged one, now I'm filling it with TFs.

edit: i think what i like most about the toy is that you're really getting 2 bots in one. i wish there were more toys whose trailers upgrade the cab bot. looking forward to the new rodimus toy!!

 

the only thing i dislike from the reissue is those huge missiles, but those are easily replaced
