The 3 parter that started it all has to be the best! It's what caught the imagination of kids and adults everywhere. Sentient robots who could turn into everyday things. Awesome stuff.

 

The opening 3 parter.....the transformations and characters blew me away as a kid at the time and it still holds up really well.

That scene with the oil rig on fire around Huffer & he being saved is still etched in my mind, pure awesomeness

I like it for its wasted potential.

Fangirls like it because it inspired the minds of fan fic writers.

A lot of emotion in that episode. Transformers was still on weekly at that point(Sunday mornings) in my area.
Skyfire sacrifices his own life to save the Earth(I didn't know at the time he would be back a few episodes later).

Even though Starscream is shown in the distant past in his Earth mode.  

 

I chose S.O.S Dinobots.

Simply because "If on Decepticon Turf you happen to tumble, look our robot, cause here comes RUMBLE!!" is the best line in the whole series. It has other awesome lines as well.

I honestly don't like the opening 3-parter. It is horribly inconsistent. Sometimes the Autobots can fly and sometimes they can't. Megatron is shown flying off with like, 10 generic seekers, next scene they're gone.

 

Definitely the original 3-parter, or "Arrival From Cybertron" movie as it was when released in the UK! I love it. The cartoon went rapidly downhill from that point.

But as some one else said, there's just so much iconic imagery in that opening 3-parter that even a cartoon-indifferent fan like me has to sit up and take notice. The battle at the oil rig, Megs and Prime fighting with those hand-weapons, the Autobot rollcall outside the Ark, Mirage & Hound's trap for Ravage, the Mini-bots dressed up as human scientists (what kind of plan is that!?!?!) etc etc.

Classic.

 

The original three part episodes. It started Transformers and was original, interesting, and had a lot of cool-looking robots fighting a giant war. MTMTE still holds up very well after over 25 years which is amazing in and of itself. Great stuff.

Since the first time I saw Prime come rolling down the side of the caves its stayed in my memory, as other people have said, still holds up well after 25 years.

 

Definately the begining three parter. You get a nice Universal perspective to kick-off a series that takes place on our home planet 3/4 of the time. I like knowing where things come from and it was just a great starter to the series.

 

im sure this has probably been asked before but how come after the first three episodes the autobots couldnt fly any more unless they had a rocket pack or rode inside skyfire.

 

I always liked "Heavy Metal War". It shows Megatron off perfectly by offering a seemingly honourable final showdown with Prime and then living up to his Decepticon faction by cheating! Love it.

 

More Than Meets the Eye. IT started it all!

 

ultimate doom. all 3 parts = 1 big epic adventure.

but mtmte is right behind that-- when prime screams "megatron!" it just sends chill up your spine.

+ Ironhide sounding like he really wants to watch robots fighting

- Not enough Rumble
- Slightly annoying inconsistency with season two's explanation of the Constructicons

i chose fire in the sky, i loved the choices skyfire had to make, and it stayed in my memory all these years (plus look at my sig lol) close behind are the two three parters

 

Has to be heavy metal war, the duel between Prime and Megs os cool, but the first glimpse of the Constructicons is awesome. Was always my favourite as a kid!

 

War of the Dinobots. This one gets my vote for the fact that, of all the G1 episodes, this is one of the ones I remembered most strongly from the period between the show going away and the release of the dvds. Not sure why that one in particular, but it really did stay with me for a long time.

 

The original 3 parter. I like how it focused on their lives on Cybertron and gave an insight into who the Transformers were without including humans in it. If people were able to relate to the first 5 or 10 minutes of that first episode where no humans were shown at all, it goes to prove that humans are NOT a necessity in the Transformers universe. I think a show dealing with that aspect of Transformers would do quite well.
