So, the Classics/Universe/Generations/RTS lines are great, right? And it's always nice to get updates of classic, G1 characters.

But sometimes, despite this, CHUG designs just don't work as well as the original source material. Which isn't to say that the CHUG version is BAD, but the original just beats it in your eyes.

Personally, I like G1 Perceptor and Galvatron better than the updates. In both cases, I got the CHUG version first, and was slightly underwhelmed. But then I went and got the G1 version, just for the hell of it, and I loved them. Perceptor just has such a neat, unusual alt-mode, and Galvatron is just goofy in all the right ways.

What about the rest of you?

Perceptor is the main one for me. His proportions and overall look just run circles around the Classics mold. And I am definitely no G1 fanboy.

pretty much this, the only thing classics has going for them is articulation vs mps though, they would win. more accuracy > articulation for me, even inaccurate ones like ironhide and ratchet are closer in vehicle mode. i was all out classics before, sold my g1s, and now regret it (have since rebought a lot of them), i mess with the g1 figures more, and enjoy looking at them more. classics prowl is probably the worst figure aesthetically speaking in my collection

Jetfire, Galvatron, Perceptor, Soundwave (vs the music label), Optimus Prime, Sideswipe (Red Alert), and Astrotrain. Grimlock is a maybe, but its an update to Pretender Grimlock, in which case the CHUG is preferable.

Ironhide & Prowl. Even if I take the rose-tinted specs off, Ironhide in particular is a much more fun toy than his Universe counterpart.

Grimlock, Sideswipe, Blurr, Megatron, Optimus Prime & Powerglide. It's not that the G1's are better - it's just that those particular CHUG's suck so much.

Understandable in both cases, although I'd love to see a G1 Perceptor with a cartoon accurate head. The faceplate head never worked for me.

Yeah, Jetfire and Shockwave were the first I thought of. Shockwave isn't quite fair to say though as we've only had the undersized FoC deluxe to stand in for him.

Past that, it takes some serious rose colored glasses to say the G1's are superior. A lot of those guys were bricks or lego-formers. There is the odd one off that's really good, but it's hard to beat the CHUG's when the line is at the top of its game.

All of them. Every single last one of them.

For years all I ever wanted was an updated G1 line. 'CHUG' (ugh) isn't anything like what I wanted. I wasnted nothing more than updated articulation. Updated designs turn me right off them.

I would go with Tracks. The original corvette just looks so beautiful in car mode it outshines the wheeljack repaint. Besides Perceptor, Galvatron and maybe Prowl I can't think f any others. I like Classics Astrotrain more than the G1, the only thing the G1 has over the classics is the train mode.

I'm heading in that direction. Someday I will finally get myself to be rid of all the kibblely unpainted limb-popping ball jointed crap and stick with G1 and Masterpiece.

Sideswipe. I don't like how Classics Sideswipe's chest is so bloated looking and oversized. And I like the sharp angles of the G1 alt mode.

Grimlock, Prowl and repaints, Sideswipe and Red Alert, Overlord (if that counts), Octane, Nightbeat (same as Overlord), and Shockwave.I'm probably missing some obscure Cybertron repaint or remold, but honestly I like the majority of Classics better than their G1 counterparts.

Classics 2.0 Ravage is the only nice update on the original. G1 wins on everything else for me.

I was going to say Optimus Prime...... But after some posts I'm going to have to go with "all of them".
