G1 Box Art Style Optimus Prime coming to Hallmark in 2014

Not sure if this has been mention yet. I checked but didn't see it posted. Looks like there is a G1 toy style Optimus Prime ornament coming to Hallmark stores next year.

    Huh.
I've thought about 3d printing some TF Xmas ornaments.

Being based on the G1 box art, man it looks awful.

I like the Boris Karloff Frankenstein ornament way better.

Again, some really sweet stuff here, as well as some really absurd stuff.

Although, in all fairness, I rather adore the fact that Hallmark has no regard whatsoever now for whether or not the subject of a Keepsake Ornament is at all in tune with anything about the holiday season. I thought this year they'd topped the Death Star ornament by putting Mummy Aunt Edna on top of the Family Truckster ornament, but throwing Giger's Alien into the mix for next year may well trump that. :D

O.K., Hallmark, for 2015: a Jaws ornament. Just in time for the movie's 40th anniversary. Just the shark is OK; having the shark trying to smash its way into Hooper's cage would be better; and I would not be averse to going to the full nine and having the shark smashing its way onto the Orca with Quint hanging bloodily from its mouth. And I damn well expect a "Press Me!" function with John Williams' pulsating theme music in all its ominous glory.

    Do not disappoint me.

Cool! Too bad they didn't go with the G1 cartoon proportions, or at least the 2007 Optimus Prime look.

They might not be able to, if Carlton/American Greetings still has the rights to make TF ornaments based specifically on either the movies and cartoons, or whatever else is current with the TF brand (hence the Masterpiece Optimus ornament several years back, when the toy was still hot). Since Hallmark has made ornaments based on past toys (note that one of the photos in the TNI gallery has a SIMON ornament), that's probably how they were able to get around any such restrictions to make a G1 Optimus ornament, by basing it on his original toy.

    I dunno, I'm just guessing.

    I prefer how this looks.

The toys and the toy art were the real deal to me. I was never as fond of the cartoon designs.
