After over 30 years, I finally own a bird Cassette with a head again.

 

Thanks for the advice. My only hope is to find a minty fresh box to replace this steamrolled one.

 

I still like the Soundwave that TRU had with the double tape deck.

Mine had its head, but glued in for cassette mode, a gold paint touchup--and I guess I lost the weapons long ago.
Soundwave's head was glued in place, up, 'cause I was a dumb kid and took it to school and let someone "see" it (who let someone else "see" it and break it).

Side story, oldest brother threw out all my transformers boxes, much to my protest and crying at the time. Later calculated he cost me about $300 in lost fees when I sold most of them. So I made sure to walk out of the parent's house last time they were there visiting with grandma's coo-co clock from the 40's that my folks spent quit a bit to get refurbished. I was going to get the clock no matter what anyway.

 

Any places have the cassettes on south shore or lower NH?

 

Woo, so he actually shipped and was delivered. Now I have my own Soundwave. Another childhood toy acquired. Now I only have to pick up a Ravage/Rumble set and I'll have them all to myself.

 

I ended up buying two cases for the carded cassette packs from zoloworld.com. I went with the BSW002 model. They "work" and were in my price range ($17 shipped for the pair) but are too large for my display tastes, especially the depth at 2.5 inches. Here are some pics.

Including a pic of the four custom loose cassette cases currently on eBay (pink, red, purple, and clear).

I just realized that the cassette two packs are the same size as the Star Wars Vintage Collection cards. So the ProTech cases should fit perfectly. I'll swap them out tomorrow and provide updated pictures.

 

Check out the Walmart in Abington MA - brickseek says 12 of them still there - the cassette 2 packs. They must have restocked them.

 

I thought Abington never put them out?

 

I got mine in and thought it had been tampered with as there was no interior backer and the instructions were just loose in the back but I guess that is indeed how they are being sent

 

I have not entered the store but its odd they have yet to put them out if that's the case. Also - Hanover is currently putting out the mod finally in the toy department & should have both the Soundwave & Cassettes out shortly.

Do you mean Soundwave? If so yeah. There is tape that was holding him in place with the plastic ties. And the instructions just float around. I have two soundwaves and I’m guessing the second is just the same. Not sure why they had him taped but meh.

 

So it doesn't come with instructions?

I'm still looking for the cassettes. Been to Walmart at least 10 times at opening and only found a lone Soundwave that was all beat to hell. The scalper probably figured that it would be too hard to sell in that condition and left it.
