    I am so freaking stoked!!!

This is the first time Soundwave gets reissued in his original 84 packaging, just like the other WM reissues. I am so getting this!

Takara digging up the moulds for the cassettes is a bit different than suddenly being able to reissue the Dinobots for example. I'm sure they just felt there was little interest in something like that until recently. As far as what this line is going to offer (and what Walmart feels they have real estate on their shelves at a price point they prefer), we're not going to get any surprises.

I think the biggest surprise we may get is Hound.

EDIT: Just noticed there's more to your post through this thread. Please allow my thoughts to proceed although they are directed in general to those who have these thoughts rather than you specifically out of context.

Japanese reissues seem dubious in this line, though. The point for Hasbro is to recreate your childhood. Unless you're talking about Overbite and Slugfest (which could happen). Although Slugfest is suspiciously missing from the Encore line, IIRC.

Instead of doing Minibots, Hasbro could easily release 2-pack cassettes of

    Rumble/Ravage
    Frenzy/Laserbeak
    Overbite/Slugfest

and to (cross my fingers) round it out into a case of four...
    Enemy/Ratbat

Although Enemy would be a similar pie-in-the-sky wishful thought along the line of your Japanese Dino Cassettes seeing retail release.

But yes, Omega Supreme and Sky Lynx need to happen in this reissue line. Aside from possible drop-test style safety reasons, there's no other reason not to...except for if they're still feeling out the market for $100+ reissue pricing. You'd think that Devastator's success would encourage Walmart to want higher priced reissues as opposed to Hasbro apparently wincing at offering a $80-$100 Optimus w/trailer to them.

Well he asked about the original '84 Soundwave. I believe the US and Takara versions had different hinges.

The US SDCC version had the single tape door? The back of this box doesn't show that. (Mine's in storage MISB so can't confirm)

If it's single door, pics like these are probably why people think it was the augmented boobs version.

I dont know if it was just my local WM but they had BOTH Reissue Hot Rod and Starscream on sale for $21 and $25 respectively.
One store had 1 SS and 21 Hot Rods at those prices recently.

For what it's worth, that pic has two different styles on it simultaneously.

Most places here have long sold out of SS and Devy. Only Hot Rod seems to be universally discounted.

I never realized they remolded the hinge. I thought only the depth of the door had been changed, so that was the only thing I looked at.

I just think it's funny they couldn't decide on which Soundwave mold they were using...so they showed both?

I guess tmI can understand the whole retro pop thing. Milenials are obsessed with old stuff like turntables (waiting for VCR comback lol) But I dont buy into the lost mold excuse. Not when the KO guys are reverse engineering the molds and pumping out weirdwolfs, scorponoks, and shockwaves that are 99.9% on par with the originals. Hell the KO guys already did all the dinobots including a blue diaclone swoop. Hasbro needs to at least keep up with these guys before they go after them in court. What good is "IP" without the damn mold ? The KO guys got the molds.

This. We only have Hot Rod but the clearance tags for Starscream are on the shelf as well. Funny how you could get Hot Rod online for $15 then 13 with free store pickup, and the in store clearance price is $21. $25 for Starscream is killer tho. I can confirm the Devastator is not on clearance, but we are out of him as well.

Those would all be great picks. Im fortunate enough to have my childhood snapdragon with reprolabels and snagged apeface at a botcon for $100 before the prices went sky high. Never had a jetfire, but I imagine he would be the least likely to get a reissue for all the legal BS behind that mold. But the KO guys did him in high wuality I think.
