I like that they're sticking to the classic packaging. Too bad the prices are ridiculous (and Optimus has no trailer). I'm still considering Hot Rod if I can ever get him for a reasonable price but it's not like they're being released over here anyway, so... probably not. I'd rather get the Targetmaster one anyway. It's a shame they don't do more exciting reissues though. Soundwave has been re-released God-only-knows how many times.
Remember when they announced the Fan Polls to pick a G1 reissue and everyone lost their s**t because they thought itw as the only one coming? That was adorable.
They were referring to the door size being the single cassette sized one. Both Hasbro and Takara have had reissues with both sized doors before too.

While that's not the double tray, it's definitely the Soundblaster molding and not the original G1 Soundwave molding. It's the same molding every reissue has had. The news post should be corrected.
While it’s cool to see these on shelves, it doesn’t budge my wallet. I’d rather the space was available for new chug releases. It’s sad that up until now we’ve had no great Soundwave remakes domestically.
Now the question is will it have the original head or be like Bumblebee and have a remolded cartoon accurate head?
The Bumblebee reissue was given a whole new mold and only included the new head, that's why of all the minibot reissues it hasn't had any issues with looseness and the like. The keychains that came out before the TF Collection killed the original mold along with Cliffjumper's, Brawn's, and Windcharger's. Other the than the door changes, the Soundwave mold only ever had one design for the head.
I think I will pass on this one. I still have my original Christmas '84 soundwave that I have in one of my displays. Plus a new one still sealed in MIB C9 packaging and a new soundblaster MoC C8 from the original Diaclone days.
