Look at Platinum Astrotrain and Blitzwing. They didn't even try to make those appealing.

Blitzwing isn't too bad but Astrotrain sucks.

I like both. But then, I like G2 colors too.

Still those probably would have been received better if Hasbro had released the original G1 colors first before putting out the alternates. I still think it remains one of the more baffling decisions Hasbro has ever made.

I just had a reisue/ko Sludge arrive last week and it was so well done I ordered Swoop straight away. Yes I wish they were official but if KO is my only hope then so be it.

I found the chrome to be super fragile on the KO Sludge, just bought a mint vintage figure to replace him. Now, not needing to track down the weapons, that's cool.

Oh really? I'll have to be careful then. But I plan to keep this guy on display and not fiddle too much, hopefully the chrome will hold up ok. Well done on getting a mint vintage dinobot! I wish I could afford one of those...

Yes it was on first transformation, be careful on the tail, that's where I had my issue. These are KOs however so hopefully your mileage will vary.

As for the vintage. Got lucky, $45 no weapons but as I say, I have the KO so I'm good for now.

Prices on them don't seem so bad, put into context. I don't think vintage G1 prices, for the common stuff, have moved hardly at all since the late 1990s.

I would REALLY love a domestic Hound reissue already.

Any odds on which Minibots we’ll get in the Astrotrain/Blaster wave? Think there’ll be another vote?

Cross your fingers with me for Huffer.

All of the Minibots that have been reissued thus far have been the same ones in either the Encore 1986 Minibot reissue set or the Transformers Collection set.

Reissued in Vintage G1: Anime Bumblebee, Swerve, Outback, Tailgate, Gears, Warpath

That leaves Cosmos, Powerglide, Huffer, and Pipes (not sure why Pipes wasn't included in the initial reissue along with the other 1986 Minibots).

My guess is that one wave consists of Huffer and 1 of Powerglide/Cosmos and another includes Pipes and whichever of Powerglide/Cosmos didn't get released with Huffer.

At least Blitzwing homaging Flywheels kind of made sense, to date no-one knows why Astrotrain was released in those colours

It was a nice homage, and I don't hate the Astrotrain's fun colors, but it still didn't make any sense why Hasbro chose to do that.

Wheelie was also reissued with Targetmaster Kup. So, he SHOULD also be on the table.

I don't think anything is a guarantee, though. There's a good chance the Minibot assortment is about to be replaced by the cassettes.
The closest homage I can think of is Universe 1.0 Micromaster Storm Jet (part of Micromaster Superion).

I think the idea, though, is G2 Astrotrain. Which is a super awesome idea to me...but I'm also a G2 fan. The more garish, the awesome!;)  Both he and Blitzwing live on my G2 shelf.

That's one I would brave legions of Walmartians to find. I have the TFC but kept hoping he'd make it into Encore.

This is a "nostalgia driven" line. If you didn't see it on the shelf in 1984-86, you're probably not going to see it here. I just don't see Hasbro bothering with Reflector, the Omnibots or Powerdasher, although that would be interesting to see. I'd also love to see reissues of the Jumpstarters and Battlechargers - but those are so easy to get ahold of vintage wise, I think Hasbro has those pretty low on the priority list. (For the Jumpstarters, they'd have to replicate the misprints where some Twin Twists and Topspins exchanged names on the tech specs. :p  ) I mean, which do you think a casual fan would snatch first? Top Spin or Prowl? Or Grimlock?

The only major deviation from that we've seen is a trailer-less Prime but I think that's primarily a "Made In Vietnam" thing. Since they moved the production to Vietnam, Hasbro is having to create new molds for old toys and they just didn't bother with the trailer. I think that's why it's taking longer for figures to hit shelves as well. Soundwave will almost certainly be a new mold, as will be the cassettes.
