I'm not sure if anybody posted this yet but has anyone notice that in last saturday's episode it said Optimus would not laugh but in G1 Optimus laughed and actually placed basketball with Spike. Why did They make Optimus in prime no fun.

I don't know why, but I'm going to have to choose G1 Optimus.

It seems that the writers of TFP have made Prime boring as his own little character flaw. Think about it- "Primes don't party." So this Optimus Prime distances himself from his crew. He doesn't allow himself to relax hardly ever, there's never a moment of the day when he's not doing something related to winning the war (even if that something is just scouting around). I think, if they really want to roll with it, they could make a great character arc for TFP Prime going from a boring, distanced commander to a close friend to his troops.

If I'm not mistaken, TFP Prime doesn't throw insults at Megatron the way his namesakes have. I would love it if TFP Prime finally went all out and just threw some horrible insults at Megatron that completely stunned him.

I too prefer G1 Prime, but I have some hope that TFP Prime will go in that direction that Mako Crab suggested.

As of now, G1 Prime. He was just so much more relaxed and a cool guy instead of the stoic heroic emotionless one we have now. But after seeing the last two episodes, I think they can go in a good direction with Prime Prime because of Ratchet's rant about him while on drugs and a foreshadowing to Prime's past. And now we know that the show is aware he doesn't have any emotions and they're doing it on purpose.

I think that's what made TFA Prime quite popular. He wasn't a distant commander, he was a young leader learning the ropes. It's kind of strange that in write-ups leading to TFP, they kept saying it would involve learning what it takes to be a Prime, and so far we've really seen zilch. TFA actually showed us more development for Optimus their first season than we have in TFP.

What? They even say in the darn show that he never shows any significant display of emotion.

I agree that he doesn't "display" much emotion - at least not in an overt way. But I actually think that he comes off as feeling deep emotion. He just doesn't show it much. He's holding it back, which doesn't mean it isn't there beneath the surface.

Still, if we're talking about how he acts, then, yeah: mostly reserved and restrained.

Agreed, check out that episode where Prime and Arcee are stuck in the snow and then tell me Prime is emotionless. Staying stern and being emotionless are two different things.

G1 Prime would have laughed at Mars Cats.

While I like the fighting prowess of TFP Optimus, I enjoy the personality of G1 Prime more. If you could merge the two, you'd have gold!

I To Prefer G1 Optimus Over TFP Optimus He is still My Favorite
out of the Whole show, But You can still be A Strong leader capable
of controlling emotions, while still having fun and laughing sometimes,
Thats why I Always say Movie Optimus, is More Like G1 Optimus,
they both taunt the Enemy, they seem more lively, and they
both are more light Hearted, and they both stop Megatron at any cost, but
The last Episode of TFP Optimus seemed to act More like the Other
versions, and I'm so happy he did, Because He's My Favorite and I Love
it when he shines, Because thats What I'v been waiting for, can't wait for the next Episode:D
This is Just My Opinion and Preference:)

P Prime is more absorbed in the war and seems more weighed down. So g1 Prime is my preference.

One of the problems TFP Prime faces is that he's kind of got himself into a rut. He's been putting on this show of the wise leader that always has a plan for so long, that he doesn't dare break out of it for fear of how his troops would react. I think once he tried to lighten up when he offered to bring Raf back a snowball. That was about as much humor as he's ever displayed. We really have no idea what he's like on his downtime. It'd be great to learn what, if any, hobbies or pasttimes he has.

TFP Optimus for me please. I'm loving every bit of him and I'm curious to learn more and more about his backstory, and the reason why he keeps his emotions in check. There's just something about this character that makes him truly unique.

I like the character potential there is in the TFP Optimus. I mean, they were saying at the start that prime would be the series that explained what it means to be a prime. It's quite possible that in seasons 2 and 3 that he could grow into a prime that does laugh/party.

Still feels like a Prime's job is to unite his/her people and to lead them all to greatness—’til all are one. That said, I don't think we'll see Prime doing much of that until peace is finally achieved:/

you can tell the hurt in his eyes when ratchet yells at him in the episode faster, stronger, there is more we will learn about him

That's the thing, he can go into that, that is his character potential. Remember, we're only one season into the show, there is still a lot of time for him to grow. Heck, in One Shall Fall, we see him kind of have a bit of a breakdown. That breakdown might be the thing that starts his character growth into a more prime prime.

They kind of are the same guy at least in reference to more modern renditions of g1 Prime. Prime Prime is an island who must bare the burden of leadership alone it is a mature and well developed version of the fundamentals that make up Prime's personality. If you look at most good comic writers of G1 prime they understand this and have been interpreting Prime this way for years, to be honest it kind of comes as a bit of shock that some view Prime Prime with such controversy over his personality, it is nothing new.

As for the g1 cartoon; it was a kids cartoon with no intention of telling a intelligent story. Prime is certainly aimed for the whole family with it's darker tone and more sophisticated story telling, so they are able to develop Prime beyond his 80s cartoon self. Ultimately give him time to develop Optimus does not disappoint....... Unlike you Starscream! :D
