Which incarnation of Optimus Prime do you like the most? For me it will have to be G1 Optimus Prime.

 

G1 all the way, though AOE Prime was a bit more justified in his actions and didn't horribly mutilate people compared to the first 3.

 

AoE Optimus.I mean,G1 is the original but the AoE version is stronger and more epicness then the G1 Prime.
For my,I prefer the AoE

Anytime its X Vs X G1 version, the G1 version will almost ALWAYS win.

 

G1 is about freedom is the right of all sentient beings. I like that attitude.

But I love AOE Prime's character. He wants to stick to his morals but hard circumstances push him into harsh choices. I find the anger and rage of him interesting.

 

I sort of view G1 Prime more as a hero, so my vote goes to him.

 

Im getting tired of these comparisons.

 

G1 for me. I feel he had strength and kick assery yet was still compassionate and paternal. In the movies he is written in a far less subtle manner. To be bad ass, they have him running around screaming 'kill, kill' and to have him wise they have him drone on with these cliche sayings like 'you may not believe in u, but never stop believing in yourselves' or whatever. Just seems to be written too broad.
G1 wasn't amazingly written but they did nail Primes character as someone I respected and felt was heroic but not to be messed with.

I understand why he was pissed in AOE but it's been the same since ROTF. He just comes across as to blood/oil thirsty to seem heroic. I don't have a problem with him killing but to show such luster for it makes him seem less heroic or admirable.
It actually could be written as an interesting conflict if Krueger were capable of that. I mean really, how different are Megatron and Prime in the movies? Prime is more than happy killing other Transformers to protect humans (and now, even kill humans) where as Megatron is more than happy killing Humans and Autobots who get in his way to try and restore Cybertron and the Transformers. Different ideals yet they both go about them the same way. So why is Megs evil yet Prime 'good'?

 

G1 Prime seemed like a cliched hero. I like him, but he's too perfect (although I like him in the g1 movie more because you can tell he's fed up with Megatron and he questions why does Megatron deserve mercy).

So I voted movie Prime

 

G1 will always be close to our hearts.

But Movie Prime, is just...amazing.

Think of this way. In the first film, we see an Optimus with a G1 attitude, freedom is the right of all sentient beings etc, he was honourable, noble, always level headed.

But from ROTF on wards, things push him over the edge. The fact the government is all over his arse wouldn't of been helping either. Because of Galloway the cons found out where the shard was to revive Megatron. if it had been under Autobot guard and not human, it wouldn't of been able to be used to revive Megs. The fact he had to kill one of his own brothers wouldn't of been great for him either.

And by DOTM it's clear things, even with Meering, isn't the best. Him getting blamed for what Sentinal did, the humans still don't understand at all. Speaking of sentinal, his betrayal, and the fact he killed Ironhide, would of pushed him right over the edge. this is clear in the shot straight after he killed Sentinal. Megatron sure as hell didn't help. Optimus's "Time to find out" was said with such anger and aggression, it went through me. Oooh, also thanks to his mentor, Cybertron has been destoryed, any hope he had of reviving his planet is now gone. Forever. How would you feel if that happened to you?

By age of extinction, the fact he has been betrayed by the very species he has saved more than once, the death of ratchet, lockdown showing, bots and cons alike being stripped apart and recreated by the humans, and the fact they allowed Megs to come back in a new body, has pretty much made him nearly despise humans, even going so far as to

. I mentioned the death of ratchet getting to him, honestly, rewatch that scene. I'm surprised he didn't tear down the building and kill everyone in it.

We have to understand that this Optimus has went through a lot more than G1 prime did. I can love them both equally for what they are, but Movie prime has so much more character to him than we actually realise.

 

BOTH. They're the same character. Both believe in freedom. That is why Optimus in both G1 and the movies never gave into Megatron!

TF1: He was willing to put the Allspark in his chest. To keep it from the Decepticons.

ROTF: He held out long enough for the other Autobots to arrive for Sam to escape in the forest. Resulting in his sacrifice. He gave Sam 'freedom' from Megatron.

DOTM: He returned in the midst of the Chicago battle. Help Epps, his team and Sam escape from Shockwave's Diller. He then killed, with justified reasons, his mentor Sentinel Prime for killing Ironhide and siding with the Decepticons tyranny. Why would you let Megatron live for the actions he has done on Cybertron and Earth.

AOE: ALL of his actions in this film were justified. The race he sought to protect from the Decepticons has now turned against him. They ambushed Optimus Prime in Mexico City (no warning) brutally wounding Optimus and his friends and narrowly escaped and now knows that the humans have even sided with Lockdown! They killed Ratchet and Leadfoot, this was even shown on video to him!!! Then he saw what KSI were doing to Ratchet's head! How would you feel is someone you trusted turned against you and started working with the enemy and then to find out they're smelting your oldest friend's head for there purposes? He has been pushed to the boundaries people! G1 Prime never went through anything like Movie Prime. Oh and needn't I mention the fact that the Humans had built an entirely new body for Megatron!?!? Who would do that? When Megatron was responsible for everything.

THEY SLAUGHTERED RATCHET

The only real human friends he had in AOE was Cade, Tessa and Shane. You see, he killed Attinger because he was going to kill Cade... As a result of this he almost lost to Lockdown, that's sacrifice.

In conclusion, my favorite version of Optimus Prime is G1 and Movieverse. This is because I can take a moment to justify reasons as to why Prime can become as some say, 'murder' Prime when he totally isn't.

 

G1 Prime, but I admit - I did like the AoE Prime wrestling with what has become of his existence.

Apart from Energon Optimus, despite being the same character as Armada and Cybertron, he just seemed to bland.

 

I'll say apart from Animated because he has a dumb design and different personality.It's really not the same character

 

I voted for G1 Prime this time around solely because I didn't like how AOE Prime handled the Dinobots. Honestly thought the whole "defend my family or die" thing was so far desperate it was weird; it wasn't needed. Everything else Murder Prime did was fine with me and I quite enjoy the more "realistic" approach he has. But, too much for me overall in this film, nod to G1 I think.

 

Reactions to Ratchet's death:

AOE: I'll kill them! They hunted down my friend and are MELTING HIM DOWN FOR PARTS! They will PAY!

G1: Wow...uh...that's not cool, bro, but I'm sure if we just talk to them and give them I've cream, they'll be willing to see what they did wrong.

 

G1 no doubt. AOE Prime is as close as you can get to that ideal in the world they setup. AOE Prime would be my 3rd though. For me it's G1, then Animated, then AOE.

Animated because he's the one Optimus, imo, that really shows character growth, and that felt like Optimus without aping G1 completely.

 

Both but my vote goes towards AOE just because he is basically G1 Prime without the limits os being in an 80's cartoon for kids.
