Struggling to see who is really being ripped off here... er... nope, not really. This gets my support.
No. I have the Decepticon set and none of this is on there. It's never been released anywhere, ever. Robert Walsh's website teased for years that a CD release of his Transformers music was "coming soon", but it never happened. If an authorized soundtrack was going to be released, it would have happened by now. This sort of fan project is probably your only chance.
What a great project... and awesome guy for tackling it. I'm planning to chip in ... and have been passing the word with various groups.
Cool I just backed it and goal already reached!! Thanks for front paging it. Now let's get the stretch goals and make it better!
So, now this target has been achieved, what's next? We need a new Transformers Kickstarter project to get behind. Maybe we should help get those lost/damaged G1 molds replaced/repaired. Or stump up to cover getting the Japanese TF shows professionally dubbed into English. Pay Paramount to feature the TFW logo in the next live-action TF movie (and then sue them afterwards for some dumb reason). ... Well I can dream, can't I..?
Thank you so much Tony for front paging this Kickstarter.... I can't believe the project got funded THAT fast. The Stretch Goals are next!!!
Just realized he's a fellow Michigander. Bonus! I'll definitely be checking back later to throw down some more cash as needed. The fandom *needs* clean versions of these tracks.
Big thanks, guys! When Jimbo contacted me about this, I wondered if people cared about getting a few sound effects and sound issues cleaned up. It appears you all do. $650 is a modest goal, but I was very impressed with how quickly it was funded. Now... for the stretch goals.
I'd lend a little financial support into this too if I weren't expecting a new family member around the end of the year. But I really hope you accomplish what you set out to do. I often find among my other interests that a similar effort is often made for really obscured entrance music in wrestling.
I love the G1 background music and it's a great idea to reconstruct it, but have we given up hope of an official proper release? I thought there were rumours it was in the works. Intrada's 86 TF Movie score CD only came out this year and I was hoping for a tv soundtrack follow-up (especially since Walsh still has all the original music and is apparently willing to supply it for release - more info in this thread). Maybe a Kickstarter to pay for the release of those uncut masters would be even better.
Not a bad idea. I was totally unaware of that and had completely given up hope of any sort of official release. Just a matter of getting in touch with him and figuring out how much a release would cost, really.
Gotta be worth a shot? Worst that could happen is if he's already sold the rights to release to some company like Intrada... But frankly I'd consider that excellent news in itself
Pledged! And I'm not even interested in the music. I just want to help this fan help the fandom. And I hope he's doing some more great stuff with the software. Good luck! iDD
This is amazing! I love G1 music! Though I can't help but think, 'crime drama/detective' shows when I listen with my eyes closed
BTW, I don't want people to be too disappointed. Go to TFCog (link in sig) and head over to the music section. There's a couple of "packs" of G1 music there for download. That is what this guy Jimbo is working with. I'm helping promote this, but I want to make sure you all know what you're getting.
I looked up your story man on the frontpage, I'm really happy someone out there is finally going to achieve what you've always wanted to do.
