I hear that there's a G1 Mindwipe reissue. I've been seeing them in e-bay. What do you all think of it?

It's not an official Hasbro or Takara reissue of G1 Mindwipe. More likely, it's one of those unofficial reissues. I've heard quality can be all over the place but I never heard anything specific on the Mindwipe one.

Barring something slipped out the factory ahead of an official reissue announcement (which is highly doubtful, considering the Encore line's been left to rot aside from those recent Platinum releases), yeah it's likely a knockoff. "Reissue" gets used quite a bit on knockoff listings on eBay since I guess it sounds less a pejorative than "knockoff." As iacon mentioned, quality is all over the place. I'm not well-versed in KOs, so someone who is can comment on how well this stacks up compared to the original/official release.

Why would you even want to buy a KO of the G1 toy?

So its illegitimate. My concern is what makes it different from the original.

Because the originals can be hard to come by? I love my Korean Goshooter and Minerva. Would I prefer an official reissue? Of course. But until that happens...

You'd have to buy one and compare it the original to find out. Chinese "reissues" have a varying degree of quality, but some can be more than good enough to pass for an original.

I don't have an original. So I'm unable to find out.

I bought a KO Weirdwolf a while back, just because it was cheaper to do so than buy the tail/sword and gun separately for my incomplete original. The look of the KO wasn't too bad compared to the original, but it feels less solid and the Monzo figure/headmaster was very sus compared to the original.

Haha, I know the feeling, dude.. but I have been previously almost swayed into getting the KO G1 toys.. but told myself that it just wont give me any piece of mind.

Do you also know if there are any differences of the box?

I bought the KO Mindwipe and Skull Cruncher that came out. Quality of plastic is about the same, so pretty good. And heads stay in, unlike my KO Weirdwolf.
    The main differences are:
    1. Heads-Rivets are different (right official/left KO)
    2. Face molds are a tad off (left official/right KO)
    3. Missing some factory stickers.

Well, the box is certainly too shiny and new to be an original G1!
Also, the window came unglued pretty much straight away.

    It's a straight up KO.

For all intents and purposes it is a replica, and good quality, I have the Skullcruncher one, and I'm going to get this one along with Weirdwolf.

Whenever you see "reissue" on ebay, 9/10 times it just means "KO", legitimate sellers of official stuff will say what their product actually is EG ehobby, G1, classics, commemorative, whatever.
The honest sellers will just their stuff as "KO" also, although depending on what country they are based in, they may say "reissue" to avoid ebay removing their listings.

Anyhow, it is a KO, a high quality one. What you do with that information is up to you.

I can't upload the rivet difference since the pic is too big.

Mindwipe. Again, left is KO, right is official. Faces much more sunken in for both.
