Anyone actually bought one of these G1 KO's off of ebay? I have seen all the combined giftset (minus the Predacons), Blitzwing, Scourge, Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Hound, the Dinobots and a bunch of others. If you bought one or more, how is the quality compared to the original? Does this bode well for more Walmart official reissues?
Ive bought many of them. Dinobots, repro packages, Soundwave/Cassettes. To be honest, I can't tell the difference (some label/imaging diff) but then again I havent completely scrutinized. I eventually got to the place that I realized I want to have these to display, and Im not willing to drop dumb cash to get these for investments, so if I am just accumulating for collecting sake, who cares if they are real or close knock offs. They look great displayed, and bring me as much joy as the real thing without the wallet crush. and I hadnt seen Hound .. about to buy!
Bought Optimus and no one near as good as the original or reissue, as I actually took one out of the box for display use. Certain areas were really tight (trailer opening up) and others just seem like their is space I can't close up on the cab. Plus, I had a super hard time getting the trailer out of the foam for some reason. I thought for sure I would break it. If I had to choose between the Walmart reissue (or any) or a KO, I would lean more the reissue but I didn't have a choice on the trailer since the reissue didn't come with one. Maybe other figures are better but that's just what I can offer you on my experience. It wouldn't be a surprise to me if it by seller, KO quality varied too.
I know about and read about some of the KOs, but it seems like whoever is producing these KOs are trying to make everything G1, you have all the combiners, some headmasters, including a Scopornok. Some listed for cheap, others for more than an official close set.
Bought Mirage, Sunstreaker, and Swoop because those will never be reissued. Only opened Mirage so far. Quality is excellent.
There are plenty of masterpiece out there. Those are SUPER hard to tell the difference. Very rarely would I even consider buying a Masterpiece second hand outside of a reputable dealer as KOs are everywhere
I got Mirage, Hound, Wheeljack, Sunstreaker and Reflector. All were good, only nitpicks Hound didn't have the gold stripes, and the clear plastic that makes Sunstreaker's chest seemed off
I've bought the black version of G1 Optimus Prime, Bluestreak, and the Menasor combiner set. Optimus is fine, legs have a tendency to almost have the heels touch in robot mode, the tires were hard to turn at first, and one tire is not pinned strait so it's stuck at an angle. I completely took him apart to see if I could fix any issues. He can make a decent G1 Nemesis Prime figure. Bluestreak has some color differences; the grey plastic is darker than the paint on the die cast parts. There are also differences in the molds versus the 2000's reissues. I took the toy apart almost immediately since I really only bought it for the box for a custom Bluestreak I'm building. The Stunticons are trash. molding issues with nearly all of them and some of the combiner bits. Dead End and Dragstrip were the best ones in the set. I'm replacing all 5 with originals. At least the box is nice.
I picked up Swoop, Snarl and Sludge. Snarl and Sludge were terrible and broke during the first transformation. Swoop is alright but has been handled with extreme care.
