I've purchased some G1 e-Hobby's, the Insecticons and Sunstorm. e-Hobby is kinda new for me since I've always been a complete vintage purist, but I recently decided to go after them as well. But I can't decide if I should open them up or keep them misb. My vintage G1 collection is both loose, mib and misb (would never crack open a misb vintage g1). I'm having a bit of a debate with myself. Why should I open them up since I don't play with my Transformers, but I do like to fiddle around with them and transform them occasionally. So, what would you guys have done?

how about buy a modern classics/masterpiece version and just open those? They have much better playability that the G1's (i.e. articulation, funner transformations, etc)

Open them. They're pretty cool and G1s are always fun to tinker with. Plus, for the Diaclone/Microchange reissues that eHobby did (like the Insecticons), those may be the closest some of us get to ever handling actual pre-Transformer toys in-person due to price/rarity of some original pre-Transformer releases in good condition.

Open 'em - especially Sunstorm, he's not exactly rare since they did the second run.

The way I see it, reissues and eHobby stuff is there to be opened and enjoyed.

    I'm in the same boat.
I've got an anime bluestreak, black mirage, and red mirage coming from ebay all MISB's, that i purchased last night. My whole collection is loose displayed on shelves so i think im going to display them and store the boxes but im still on the fence.

I had to throw in my 2 cents because i thought it was crazy that i happened to catch this thread while contemplating the same dilemma..

    I wish I had them.

It might take me awhile, but time permitting it all gets opened and displayed eventually.

    I vote open.

The Sunstorm is a definite open. The bugs? Depends on what you want to do with them later.

You do know that roughly half of them have been reissued and relatively recently, right?

Open them. I wouldn't open factory sealed G1s but EHobby and other reissues are fair game...

I own pretty much all the ehobby g1 recolors, and most of the other convention recolors like shining Magnus, Tigertracks, etc... Since I display them in box, for me, I prefer to keep them sealed. Unless they were purchased opened already they will never be set free. If I want to fiddle with one, I'll just pick up one of the original G1s I own.

For me i open my toys but IMO if you have no interest in them and need the cash just sell them or keep them. Speaking of which I so regret not picking the eHobby Astrotrain(was it eHobby?), as it was in show accurate colors.

if you have everything opened, open em up, make a separate display or mix them in as rank fillers

articulation and complicated transformations aren't everything, while they add something, they take something away as well. (i own all mainline g1 classics and most mps as well as a lot of the g1s) personally, i'd take a g1 prowl over the universe one any day.

Open them, for sure. The joy of seeing both of those E-Hobby reissues out of the packaging on display versus their rather dull display potential in the packaging is the deciding factor.

I owned both and obtained far more enjoyment from having them displayed loose than boxed. Sunstorm is gorgeous and the Insects are great with the Energon cubes. I also enjoyed flicking through the Insecticon collector's cards. I have also always preferred the robot modes to the insect modes on all Insecticon/Diaclone Insector mould toys.

    Some further evidence ;)

For the stupid amount of money people pay for them, I'd keep them close. They would be great in a financial pinch.
