This is kinda an answer to SMOG's statment on yinothing's thred. The g1 Onslaughts head fits quite nicely on the energon/ROTF Barracade/Onslaught. All you need to do is heat up the pin holding the "princess leia's" head and then replace it with the g1 head. Rather easy to be honest. I did a little silve ap to his face plate but might go alittle further.
Ya, still transforms correctly. Just that you can see the head in his vehicle form. I'm trying to think of a way to hide it but haven't come to any conclution on it yet. Any ideas people?
wow. looks better than i thought it would do. I'm going to have to find a way to cast my mega octane's head now so Onslaught will look right.
I've been lingering on the idea of trying something like this myself, but as is I can't be bothered. I had a different head in mind though, more along the lines of an upgraded command unit. The GM Striker model's head looked pretty good to me, and is just about the right size to fit in the cavity in vehicle mode. Don't think I'm gonna try fitting it though, unless I can get a spare Barricade.
Haha! You move fast!! I can't take full credit for the idea. I've seen it done a couple of times in the past, so I knew it would look good. Well, it's still kind of located under the little canopy that his front cab is attached by... so it's about as concealed as the old head was. It would be nice to hide it completely, but it's still subtle enough that I don't feel like it would be greatly improved by adding something else. It's a cannon-fodder mech from various Gundam anime. Not sure which series the "Striker" version of the GM is from, but it does have a nice "Onslaught" feel to it. I have an RID Ruination AND a fairly played-with G1 Bruticus. I can't really decide which head to harvest... zmog
if they spend most time in combined mode and none as onslaught/megaoctane it shouldn't really matter unless you want to sell it on at a later date
Yeah, the GM is basically a cannon fodder mobile suit carrying over in numerous variations over the course of the Gundam franchise. The Striker variant, however, was introduced in a Japanese arcade game and falls less in the category of cannon fodder and more along the lines of a specialty close combat command unit. The representing model is made from a High Grade Universal Century kit bearing it's name in case anyone wants to go looking for one. One small warning I may bear though, is that the design style is rather 'Katoki-esque' and as with most GMs designed in his style it's actually kind of elongated front to back. I personally like that style, but I thought it was worth a note of warning since people tend to get nerdy over character proportions.
Not really, I did this over 6 months ago to be honest. Just when you mentioned the possibility I decided to share. lol.
Except you need a head to stick the Bruticus/Ruination head to. Guess I could just use blue tack. You had me fooled! zmog
