We know that Megatron is and was the Decepticons leader in G1, and the ones that preceded him were: Galvatron, Skorponok, Devil Z, Black Zarak, Deszaras, I could have missed a few. But what I want to know who was leader of the Decepticons before Megatron during the civil wars?

    Thanks

    "Preceded" means...
    1. To come, exist, or occur before in time.
    2. To come before in order or rank; surpass or outrank.
    3. To be in a position in front of; go in advance of.

Galvatron and the others you mentioned "FOLLOWED" after Megatron

:lol  yeah I know. I just find it funny that the one thing you take from his thread is that he used the incorrect grammar. Also would like to add that saying Galvatron and such succeeded Megs would also suffice

And to answer you're question WJ30, I believe there was one tf with no distinguished name that has been appointed as precceeding Megatron

there where the memorials to old Decepticon Leaders in the movie, and we know all the Leaders in the US and Japan. The Marvel Comics where different, with Leadership going from Megatron to Shockwave to Ratbat to Skorpinok to Bludgeon back to Megatron (with the UK future time lines in Space Pirates and Time Wars with Soundwave in command)

Galvatron, Shockwave, and Zarak for me. Would have been nice to see Starscream lead the Decepticons in the original series.

I've never seen any leaders in Masterforce or Victory so I can't comment with them in the equation.

They're not actually, as one is the antithesis of the other.

Megatron is the only Decepticon commander that received any real characterization or backstory in the original series. The other character mentioned was just kind of glossed over unfortunately.

I believe the DW comics flesh out Cybertronian history prior to the civil war. Personally, I've also enjoyed a lot of IDW's depictions of pre-war Cybertron. Worth reading if it's a subject that's piqued your interest.

I think the ghost of Starscream would've been a far better leader than normal Starscream ever was,

I'm sorry but that is just not the case.

I'm not sure why you would even say "one is the antithesis of the other" when the conversation of the post in question had nothing to do with the characterization of the characters mentioned.

Do you not know what antithesis means? The prefixes being discussed are opposite one another. The earlier statement that either is an acceptable means of conveying the same information or context is patently false.

The incorrect prefix completely changes the of the original question and resulting discussion.

I understand what the word means, I just thought you were referring to opposites in the characters.

    either way you are wrong.

here are the post in question.

followed after and proceeded are the same thing

Which doesn't track with the question posed by the original poster. He inquired about the generals that might have preceded Megatron.

The statement I initially quoted, appeared to equate the pre and pro prefixes. Despite the fact that they are antithetical.

I would suggest that I missed something, but I haven't. AFM's statement was vague enough to contextualized in a variety of ways.

it seems you have indeed missed something., no big deal:cool:
    happens to everybody
    no big deal:cool:

the statement made was not vague at all, I suggest going back and reading all the post in their entirety and intended order.
